Well, its that time of year again and the Zed starts playing up LOL. The problem of a small miss fire has started and now im getting black smoke on tick over. Its defo a fuel prob. I have changed the spark plugs a few months back but put standard ones in. Im running a boost controller and the car is chipped. Just miled tuning. Could i have burnt a spark plugs out. Ive been doing alot of fast runs on the autobarn lately. Is there anything else to look for before i start ripping stuff out lol :headvswal

Worth taking the Spark Plugs out and checking them for fouling, gaps and general condition - if in doubt replace. As Andy says could be a fooked o2 sesnor. are you getting black smoke through both Zorts - if you can, get in onto conzult or datascan and check the o2's operation.

My and ChrisC have a space reserved for you bud

Be good to see you again. I promise not to drag you out of your bag in the middle of the night again, like last year. But hey, look at all the fun you might have missed.

i need to know this, i thought after the transition from low rpm to high rpm the 02 sensors get over-ridden by the fueling map, sorry to rape the thread but these sensors confuse me that they allways get blamed for rich running at high rpm :)

Yeah A/F's below WOT are controlled by ECU with help of the o2 sensoirs, as soon as you go WOT then the maps take over.

But i believe the Z32 ECU takes its AF base using calculations below WOT conditions, so If your rich there, then at WOT you will be even Richer - I may be wrong on this though :-))

Running Rich a WOT conditions can usually be put Down too Poor Ignition system - i.e. Plugs/coilpacks Or Poor air intake conditions, I.e. Dirty Filter or restricted flow, boost leaks, or Faults such as bad AFM or PTU, Fuel coolant or Temp Sesnors.

mine had the same problem it was a poor connection on the injectors causing the miss fire and over fueling try moving them about gently and if the misfire stops thats what it is you will hear a diffrence in engine tone mine happend after a service
