Just been to the boys school sports day, at the start, they say it's possible they may have to cancel it due to the temprature being 32 degrees, and possibly too hot for the small kids to run in..

 

they decide to keep it going anyway, and have boxes of carton drinks for the kids on hand.

 

 

after 12 races it gets called off.

 

 

 

 

 

Due to the fooking horrendous thunder storm....crazy, in half hour we have had over an inch of rain, you cant see the front of the car yet alone the road.

 

Have to admit to enjoying the newly added wet t-shirt parade in the mothers car park though, was very nice to see lol

My boys came home from school to inform me they had been out on the field practicing for sports day all day. Bearing in mind its been 32 degrees I reckon its madness they even went over there in the first place!!!

We`ve just had the hottest June in Iraq for the past 3 years with over 150 hours at +45C and an average high temp of 46.9C

that's not that hot mate. i know this is england but bare in mind when i lived in dubai we would run 3 km cross country through the desert in 45 degrees!! and i was only 13/14 years old! british kids need to harden up anyway, it'll help us in the next world cup (it's in south africa!) :)

Anna also lived in Dubai so I think she knows where your coming from as she probably went to your school LOL

I know kids over there do it in much hotter temps but they are aclimatised to it unlike kids over here who are used to much colder weather.

I have to be extra fussy as well though as my son has heart problems and the school should have known better than to exert him in these temperatures.

Thats not the problem My son has a heart complaint and looked pail and knackered when he come home. Then he told me he HAD to run practicing for sports day in weather like this. Im gonna go mad tommorrow.

No suncream - they didnt have hats as I didnt realise they would be out in it and they had to take the drink from their lunchboxes so that would have left them low for lunchtime.

Its a good school and I know they wouldnt have put any kids at risk but I would have liked to be informed so I could at least have sent in extra drinks, suncream and hats

hehe small world. i was a D.C boy too, left in 1997 to move over here. i miss dubai, rocks over england big time. better weather, no tax, cheap fuel etc :)

im 26 now. Lived in Jebel Ali Village. Left just before GCSE year. I remember Miss Pirie, Mr Flower, Miss Moffatt, Mr Ashmore, Mrs Abdul Hadi, Mr Salisbury, Mr Hitchman, Mrs Easton-Corke, Mr Jones, Mr Greenhow.

Couldnt remember very well - had to call mother and ask her to get my old shamal out lol!!

this is so weierd,my sister has lived there for 15 years and married a local and has 4 kids, he,s a coach with the national football team :) never been there myself with having a american wife :( ime proberly over reacting but middle east and usa dont go together real well recently

I loved living there. Its a great lifestyle - especially for kids. Would love to go back there one day. Bet I would hardly recognise it now even though I lived there for 8 years. It has changed so much
