I was coming home from bluewater yesterday about 1am and as I was joining the A2, a Sabaru Imprezza WRX pulled along side me. It was proper pimped out with vinals down the side of it - great big wale fin spoiler. I couldnt resist but show him who's boss and put my foot down. He tried so hard to keep up, it was pathetic. Loser! :D

I really love my Zed.

Thats exactly how I blew my gearbox up but it just has to be done and the fact I beat him made it all worthwhile

tbh I thought the Z would of lost, they did at santa pod

This maybe true from a stand-still as they have 4 wheel drive and so better grip. However, mid range they have no chance.

I was going about 60mph, I put her into 3rd and floored it. The Sabaru just lagged behind. My car performs best in 2nd and 3rd.

Nobody has beaten me off the lights so far. However, the only people silly enough to attempt are chavs in their civics, mg zrs and alike and the odd businessman in a Saab Turbo or Mecedes.

I have had a subaru wrx and its true.............from stand-still the Z has no chance but rolling at around 60 the Zed would eat it for breakfast

Fas

Cool, I did not know that, I wounder who would win out of my NA (chipped, induction, zorsts) and my mates civic type R

LOL, they scream too much like a fiesta for me

Your Zed would win hands down as the Civic Type R is shite until it reaches VTEC, which is around 7k revs then you get a tiny burst of power then it all happens again in the next gear. lol.

So why has it got a 0-60 of like 6.4 and at santa pod was the quickest front wheel drive car there (well all the pro's had them) I love the Z, but I would thought I would loose.

Good old Z

It is the quickest front wheel drive car out at the moment, that is true.

Type R's however are an awesome bit of kit. 200bhp in a NA 2.0l engine is very impressive! However, I will stick with my zed any day :)

However, soon the new Mazda 3 will be out, which delivers 250bhp in a front wheel drive car. I dont know how it will hold down the power

I think the Type R is 0-60 in 6.6 but they are only numbers. Again your NA zed would still whip it mid range. In a drag race I still think your NA zed would win mainly because a zed being a rear wheel drive would get better grip than a Type R. Thats my opinion anyway.

My last car was a Nissan Almera GTI, 2.0l 16v 150+ bhp and front wheel drive. I had yokohama tyres on it and it would wheel spin a lot of the time when using a lot of acceleration from a stand still. It annoyed me so much.

I get a lot better grip in my zed :D

My housemate's got an 02 Civic Type R and yes it's prob the fastest front wheel drive car I've been in! Bloody good grip too for an FF car amd the V-TEC actually cuts in from 6000Rpm and redlines at 7500... Feels a bit like driving something with a sequential turbo set up e.g RX7 you get the first load of power and then at 6000RPM you get a second burst as if the second turbo has just cut in... Still no match for a Z but we've had so many Scoobies in his Type R cause there pretty light weight...

I know, 250bhp in a FWD car is stupid!

It was on top gear a few months back and they did say that Mazda spent millions of pounds on research and development to get the car to hold down that power!

Thanks for all this info and sorry for thread jumping, I love my Z, people say to me, why spend all the money fixing it, why not get a new car, because its a Z (they just dont understadn the love)

Know what you mean, I think most Jap car lovers get the same thing. WE get it with the REX and people kept asking me why I'd buy a 14year old Zed instead of a new car. I always say have you ever driven one or even sat in one, there's nothing like it. LOL

For crying out loud man!! No offence but it's "Subaru". 'A' isn't even near 'U' on the keyboard. I know others have moaned about this but the poor spelling on here is really starting to get on my tits.

No it is not and not by a long way.

Volvo T5 R 250 bhp and 398 PPF torque 0 to 60 is about the same, but from 40mph it stomps all over the Type R+ Top speed limited to 160mph

Volvo T6 TT R 310 BHP and 476 PPF torque 0 t0 60 = 5.9 Top speed limited to 160mph

Celica TRD 230 BHP and 317 PPF torque 0 t0 60 = 5.4 Top speed limited to 160mph

All much much faster than a Honda Civic Type R

Just people who buy Volvos don't tend to race em and TRD Celicas are rare and cost more than a Civic Type R + are designed for handling and circuit racing.

Impretzia and a Z. It's like comparing a Truck and a Taxi They are designed to do different things. from mid range on the Z will kill it and should do on a race track, but in the twisties and on the gravel don't even dream of keeping up, because ther the Subaru is in the top three.

And the Saab 95 Aero with the high flow turbo is 250bhp it also has over boost which takes it to 270bhp when you really floor it. I went out in my mates and I tell thee I was very suprised how well it pulled, torque was amazing.

I think there's quicker FWD cars than the Civic. Some Saabs and the Alfa 156 GTA make about 250bhp. A DC5 Integra makes about 220 and weighs very little. There's probably more too. Maybe that 250bhp astra?

Edit - D'oh - should have read ahead!

my celica GTR lol 270bhp at the fronts without the Gas, it runs a custom LSD and Gearbox but is a complete and utter handful

THe T5R is 4wd, I know this, my boss has one, bloody hate it.

No it isn't only Ltd edition 850 T5's Pre 94 and Some T6R's post 03

All the rest are FWD A lot of 2.5T are forwheel drive but they are sh1te
