hi,

got my MOT in two weeks, looking at the car think it will be ok, brakes good, lights all work no cracks etc, tyres ok, shocks ok, is there anything that a lot of people overlook but the zed commonly fails on??

fingers crossed, just want to be prepared!!! :(

oh yeah emissions??? should i be worried?? how can i check pre mot???

Rear Hicas arms

Front tension rod bushes

Inside tyre wear

Rear Subframe bushes

so would these would be sloppy or making knocking noises if they were worn?

can you visibly check them?

A lot of the major Z bushes are silicone filled rubber so they leak and make the car sloppy. The car can be fully re-bushed with urethane bushes to eliminate this happening every year (it seems that one bushes goes then another then another etc.) It is a pain to do but worth it if you intend to keep the car.

CO level too high

worn shocks (esp. rear)

play on front suspension links

handbrake (lever too high)

yep, as above really, shocks, hicas arms, outer tie bush that it connects to, and also check your power steering pipes, make sure theres no leaks!!.

check exhuast for holes etc, get the car on a ramp and check the breaklines tothe rear, unscrew the protective tray that covers them and then get someone to give them a good coating with a shutlzgun and some black underseal/waxyol. then re cover with guard tray, dont spray the whole of the underneath as it will piss the mot guy right off, keep that bear and clean so he doesnt get covered in crap, then after the mot get the rest sprayed up. i just did my pipes and the mot guy said thanks for not doing the whole car it helped him a great deal not to have to scrape gunk off stuff.
