I need to defragment my laptop and have read this: Ensure that your disk has at least 15% free space

A volume must have at least 15% free space for Disk Defragmenter to completely and adequately defragment it. Disk Defragmenter uses this space as a sorting area for file fragments. If a volume has less than 15% free space, Disk Defragmenter will only partially defragment it. To increase the free space on a volume, delete unneeded files or move them to another disk. my laptop now only has 7% free space :( and I have average knowlege about computers but I need to know how the best way to clear some of these files and whether or not they are important?? or do I just need a external hard drive to stick it all on and which are the best but cheapest and how do I go about sticking the files on it? go into internet options and delete temporary internet files.

If you're running XP, use the disk cleanup utility.

Also make sure you disable hibernation as that will create a huge file the same size as your memory.

Next delete some of those mucky porn vids by putting them on dvd and sending them to me.

Delete your temp files and temp internet files.

 

What size is your hard drive?

perhaps allowing it to partially defragment, and then re-running defragger will clean it up in two (or maybe three) parts. otherwise you need to try and clear some space from your hard drive - are there any programs/games that you dont use any more?
