I finally start the engine

everything look fine

but no oil pressure...

dead 0 on the stock gauge, it havn't budge a bit

as soon as I notice that I stop the engine

I'm tired of this project...

the engine havn't run for quite a while (before i'd start it)

if the sensor is ok what could it be

I havn't cry yet....yet

dented oilpan ?

was it noisy when running like it had no oil pressure??

is prob worth testing with a workshop oil pressure gauge

Probably just the guage, they are known for being crap. Try changing the sender unit

what should the oil pressure sit at? mine sits somewhere between 2 and 4 and when i'm driving hard then it stays on 4 normally.

Worth investing in a Filter sandwich plate with oil ports and an aftermarket oil pressurre gauge. Stock sender is pricey from Nissan and the stock guage is more a guess-o-meter.

Cold Idle Pressure 45psi +

Hot idle 11psi +

3000rpms (hot) 51 - 65psi

No Oil? Just pulling your leg!

My oil pressure needle sits just under halfway when engine is at optimum temperature!

Mine works for about 4min then totally dies, aftermarket gauge is in, sender going in soon. (car runs fine all the time tho)

dented oilpan ?

yes really dented JDM engine supplier let the engine rest and move them on the oilpan

changing the sender unit right now!

what Lymon was suggesting was that if the sump is badly dented it can block the pickup for the oil pump resulting in 0 or low oil pressure

>> yes really dented JDM engine supplier let the engine rest and move them on the oilpan

Sorry to say, but I'm 99.9% sure this is your problem

You will need to drop the front crossmember and remove the oilpan and put another (non dented) pan on.

why is this my probleme? oil pickup? or what?

your probably right i removed the oil sending unit and there was only a bit of used oil...

>> why is this my probleme? oil pickup? or what?

yes, there's very little room between the pickup and the bottom of the pan.

Even a small dent can cause problems

for a free trial or error fix, unscrew pressure sender of turbo feed

using a very fine drillbit with a diameter just a tad bigger than the pinhole used on the sender, refit and check readings on stock gauge they tend to become clogged and become useless, that way you can rule out the sender

be careful when removing sender,as its attached to turbo feed to much force may cause the turbo feed to twist and could lead to possible turbo damage or leaks

Thanks for the answers guys :)

I'm changing the pan for now, it was looking awful anyway, ill look at the turbo feed afterwards.

Any tips on the removal?

I don't have the tool mentionned in the service manual to separete the pan from the block, can I use a screwdriver or this is to risky?

place car on axle stands, remove all coil packs!and connectors

drain oil&filter

remove both turbo oil return feeds may have to peel back heatshiled on turbo to accsess 12mm bolts

remove engine-gearbox bracket r&l

remove oil cooler hose from oil pan

place engine hoist and take weight of engine

undo 4x17mm nuts on crossmember

undo 2x14mm nuts on engine mounts

undo 4x17mm nuts on tension rod

loosen steering uj and remove lower 12mm bolt

crossmemeber will drop, now all you have to do undo approx 20 10mm nuts around the pan, carefully insert screwdriver.pry bar and peel back sump and remove

on refitting make sure your replacemet sump is free from dirt and old oil/debris,make a good bead of sealant around sump and make sure front and rear gasket is in place,do all bolts up in a crisscross pattern to evenly seal the oil pan, refit in reverse all the above and replace with new oil and filter

you will need a jack to lift crossmember back in to its location position, once all nuts are done back up and uj is in place, you can then remove hoist

only tricky bit is placing sump in place whilst collection oil in your eyeballs  ,where goggles is the best thing, and a helper to pass/hold sump in place whilst you align and do bolts back up
