The spelling on this site is getting atrocious just recently! I don't mean the txt spk ;) I'm on about normal words being spelt incorrectly. AndyP posted a link the other week to a little IE add-on for a spell check utility, so i just thought that I'd re-post this thread again, IT'S HERE.

It's a good little add-on, only takes a few seconds to download, and once it's on, you can use it to check your spellings before you click the Submit button ;) Hopefully a few more people might use it!

unfortunatley due to my condition spelling mistakes are a common thing for me when typing, as long as you can understand the crux of the post it should be ok.

my spelling might appear bad but its my false nails can not type well with them you see

And people please note the word "brought" means to bring something and not to buy something. The word you are looking for is "bought"

would be fair enough if they were complicated words that people were getting wrong, more often than not its normal every day words tho :headvswal

though ;) yes you are right!!

I find that as I am trying to type fast, I have to keep going back and correcting things, but I still get some stuff wrong. :smw:

I know what you're talking about. I do the same thing good job we have an edit button. Even then I still miss stuff. Sorry chaps :(

Dont get too carried away folks.

Its a sports car forum, not an English class.

Probably about half a dozen mistakes in this wee bit alone !!

Nail-On-The-Head!!!!! TBH, for the sake of a few seconds downloading, and a few seconds each post, there is really NO excuse. Now there are always times when you can hit the wrong key on the keyboard, and that is really obvious, and I'm always doing that, but that's where I find this add-on perfect for the job. Of course it'll always let you off if you've spelt the word correct, but used the wrong word, if you see what i mean...... There, their etc.

Now I'm not trying to say that I'm in any way perfect, I know I make mistakes (often ;) ) but I'm trying (very trying some would say!) But then this forum isn't a competition, where you have to be first to answer a thread ;), as speed seems to be the contributor to a lot of errors!

Quite right too, we don't want to put people off. If they think they have to pass some sort of writen exam first, and have their posts graded like some school English spelling and grammer test.

its a car club, not a spelling club, get over it

Amen brother, your preaching to the converted now

trouble with these posts are you don't know who in the club has learning or spelling problems, so bringing it to everyones attention is a great help for them i'm sure.

my spelling is crap because i type to quick mainly, if i wanted my wording under inspection, id be in a english forum, not a car one.

so, we pull every one spelling, then grammer then before you know it, muppets like mrogers will be posting about how wrong it is to say "jap" spec again

I'm not bothered by spelling / punctuation as long as the meaning is clear.

Each to their own though. ;)

This thread was supposed to be an helpful one, maybe even for anyone with a problem. It was never intended to poke fun at anyone, I'm amazed people always see this sort of thing with scepticism.

If you don't want to improve on your spelling/typing skills, then so be it.

sorry dave, not having a go mate, but i fail to see how this post could be of help to anyone at all.

highlighting peoples weakness is never very helpful fella.

oh, and that spell check doesnt work on firefox which i believe a lot of guys here use. NOT that spell check is a help to anyone with spelling issues, it corrects a word for your aid, not the spellers
