June 18, 200618 yr i think its an engine out jobbie to replace the loom, ( i am probably wrong) but if it is that could be a good thing, while its out you can replace/check every hose/pipe on the block, and check it all over, check the pipe in the bay clean it all up also. you can get a good deal on a loom from coz in the states conceptzperformance.com with the exchange rate being so good at the moment its nice and cheap, however if you want to order from the uk, then mike feeny will be more than glad to supply you one.
June 18, 200618 yr Its not an engine out job pk, I'm sure on the specifics but I think you get the injector loom and top part that goes through the bulk head. Its a right bugger getting it through the bulk head apparently, I remember my mate trashing his air-con trying to do it.Dave
June 18, 200618 yr Hi, I did mine last year with a concept z loom from the states. Good price. Main difficulty in fitting is where the loom passes through the bulkhead. This is because there is a clamping plate on the inside of the car which must be removed. Take out the glove box and aircon unit to get to it. Its not difficult, just a pain to have to remove so much to get to a couple of bolts. But hey, thats Zeds all over! Also remember it's an American loom and is meant for left hookers so you will need to fold up some excess loom under the battery tray. Other difficult bit was threading the connector through for the Maf.

June 18, 200618 yr why would you need a new wiring loom? i was tightening my battery with a wrench the other day when the wrench (still attached to the + bettery bit) fell out my hand and touched the engine. loads of smoke puffed up but the battery was still ok. some things have started to go a bit wierd in the car... the battery light is always on which i'm told is something to do with a dogy circuit. second thing is my revs never idle properly and when cold always stalls! not sure why this is.
June 18, 200618 yr Don't know about your running problems Jimbob but fitting a new loom was the best thing I ever did to this car. I had all sorts of irritating little problems that all but disapeared with the new loom. When I stripped back parts of the old loom it was absolutley cooked inside. The wires were brittle and black inside which will cause problems with current flow and resistances. These ECU's are sensitive to poor signals and can give all sorts of weird results. Remember the Twin Turbo's get extremely hot under the bonnet especially round the Turbo area, and copper does not like being constantly heated and cooled.
