It can be done, but from what I've read, it takes twice as much time as it would be to remove engine.

Yeah, I'll need to get that done.

Just dont want to spend close on a grand to have the engine pulled just to get the tubs off! Reconning the tubs look easy compared to getting at them. Cant be that hard though, I work on the least maintance friendly thing ever, the Lynx helicopter!!

£1k will almost see the work all done including recon turbos. I can't remember the name of the reconditioner, but speak to Yami, they are around £500 exchange. T-pot has them in his car.

piesoup did you read my last reply to you on your other posting? that was the price i was quoted by 2 seperate Z worhshops. Pulling the engine out is a far better option apart from all the pipe work and sensers plus pulling out your engine will more than likely reveal your oil leak the route of your problem, no real cheap way around it unless you can get second hand tubs and do the job yourself, to try doing it with engine in you will still have to strip half the engine down brake servo will have to come off and i think steering linkage to thats before you struggle getting tubs off.

Hey Carl

I did, sorry I didnt reply! I'd love to pull the engine out, just dont have the place to do it. I dont mind paying for parts for the Zed, just the labour when I know I can do it mysefl! Even though it will take 10 times as long! First I'm gonna assess the play in the tubs by removing the intake pipe.

However, just been for a drive and the noise (prevoius thread) is sounding more rattly. I think I very well might have the dreaded detonation too :headvswal :headvswal

Thanks for your input Carl, very informative!

I might look for a garage that can take the engine out and then I can recon the tubs myself. That might be a good option!!
