was surprised just how quick that little thing was tho, had me worried for a few seconds!!

went toe to toe for bout 30miles, id slow down...let him fly past and visa versa! was great fun!! :D

they are pretty quick in a straight line, if it was a turbo im a little surprised the zed beat it tbh. Anything with corners though and its all over for the zed lol.

VX220 turbo would wave bye bye to a TT zed. In straight like speed (apart from top speed) and also cornering abilities. It's the same 2.0 16v 200bhp turbo engine (Z20LET) as fitted to the Astra GSi/coupe T abd Zafira GSi.

The N/A version is the Y22SE (2.2) and is around 140bhp, which is still pretty good in something as lightweight as a VX220.

i did a barry in a nova, well until i got stuck on a speed bump!!

The owner of the 550BHP zed that I looked at at the weekend said if he saw a vx220 he'd buy it tomorrow. He said that no matter how much money he pumped into the zed the vx220 would always corner and drive faster. Bit of an eye-opener really as I'd just got out of the most impressive zed I've ever seen and then the owner prefers a little go-kart of a zx220! I suppose its horses for courses though really, completely different type of car so no comparison.

I fell victim to one of those vx220's a while back,my own fault for thinking it was just like the tigra etc,i found out pretty quickly there was no corsa parts under the bonnet :wack:

I had some tw*t in a 1976 porsche 911 go to overtake me, i booted it, back end went all squiffy, i let him past :(

Can't wait till i get the hicas bars sorted so i can trash some porsches :)

In a straight line they are just about quicker than a completely stock TT, until you reach high speeds (where apons the zed would leave it behind). But a mildly modified zed will eat a VX.

Around the tight twisties they are little rockets though.

You under estimate the VX220 Turbo Dave. It's almost a second quicker to 60 than a standard TT Zed. That's not 'just about', that's quite a bit quicker.

I took a turbo vx220 in my old 200bhp supra and it made it look like my car was stationary!

Hideously quick mate, i wouldn't even bother taking one on

i've been out in a vx220 turbo, as a passenger, and its alot quicker than a zed. that was before he tuned it up to about260bhp. although my mates evo beat it in the traffic light grand prix.

I like the VX220 but they can be quiet prone to falling off the road!!! If you look on the VX220 forum the amount of people that have had the back end come around on them and then trashed the car into a hedge is staggering!!! They also including the turbo version have no limited slip diff... 300ZXTT still produces more torque as standard so yes the VX220 Turbo is bloody quick especially off the line cause it weighs the same as crisp packet, but your 300ZXTT will kill one up hills and is still more aero dynamic so from 100MPH on then your a winner!

The VX220 Turbo is a little cracker of a car.

It gets no credit 'cos just of the badge on the front though!

Of course the TT has more torque overall, but it has less torque per tonne than the VX220 Turbo. VX220 turbo will still cain it up a hill to a point. Gearing/final drive is different, so only at about 130 - 140 will a TT Zed be waving bye byes.

of course the vx beat a 200bhp supra hehe :)

it's 4.7 to 60, i don't think it would rinse a TT anywhere near as much as people seem to think. after a point the 300's pure power would win i reckon...

Are the NA and TT gearboxes the same ratios?

I think the NA diff lowers it's gearing compared to the TT. Could be wrong though.

I beg to differ there Si. I had a small run in with a turbo'd VX on the M1 and I beat him all the way from Jnc 15 to 14 and the gap just grew and grew. Maybe he was a bottle job. I just like to think I beat him :D

Hang on.........i have a gsi zafira and no way.no way it is any were near my zed, i relise it is a bit heavier then the vx but it feels like a slug which is in low gear up to my zed!

Oh by the way its for sale :D
