Ok, iv got my 300zx tt, but seeing as its in the body shop right now im just pacing about wondering what i should do with it when i get it back.

I already have an aftermarket induction kit and an exhaust system on it and as far as i know the next steps to take are getting the boost turned up (electronic boost controller?) , 555cc injectors and then uprated intercoolers (ready for when i decide i want more power).

Would that be the right direction to go in? And also am i going to need my ecu re-mapping after that lot?

Oh yeah one last thing, roughly how much do you think it would cost me to get the parts supplied and fitted?

Cheers for any help you can give.

not much point fitting 555's until you uprate the turbos.. if you are going for big power in the long run, my wish list would be:

Induction kit

exhaust

chip

EBC

Koyo rad

Uprated intercoolers.

then go from there..

of course i will probably be proved wrong by one of ya..!! lol:D;)

best advice is to take it somewhere and get a fully qualified mechanic to give you he opinion on what to do next , make sure the engine is well first o2 sensors are all ok , boost is ok etc long before you do any mods to increase power hth

You won't need bigger injectors until you upgrade the turbos but other than that pretty much what you said.

alrite then cheers lads, when i get it back im gonna take it up to my local tuning place and see what they can do for me, i might even say i have x ammount to spend, what do you recommend - although i do expect to get ripped off that way seeing as i have very low mechanical knowledge :headvswal not to worry though

Make sure you've got it chipped before you increase the boost- IIRC the stock map tops out at stock boost and you'd therefore be running lean.

are there any preset chips out and about? if so would you be able to point me in the right direction please

cheers

John Dixon is very close to you (kidderminster) has done a lot of members cars here.

i am selling my brand new greddy profec e-01 (imo the best electronic boost controller available) if you're interested

alrite cheers il look him up on yell.com as soon as it comes out of the shop, they just phoned up to say that seein as im gettin so much bodywork done theyd be willing to do me a full respray cheap, seeing as its a pretty boring white atm i sent a lady freind of mine down and told her to pick a colour at random - that may have been a huge mistake lol but im eager to find out how it comes back to me (i came into some money by a stroke of luck so i dont mind throwing it around a wee bit lol).

wish me luck, iv told her not to tell me what colour she picked, im just gonna wait untill its finished

Might end up pink mate!

She says its not pink or red but wont tell me any more than that, im guessing she would have gone with silver or black knowing no one can be annoyed with those colours - i actualy think red looks good though, but at the end of the day its one of those cars where its not so much the colour that makes it look good but the quality of the paintjob, only problem i have is i need to get my wheels refurbed an i dont know weva to go for black, white or chrome, because i cant exactly picture them against the car, not to worry though itl all be over in a couple of weeks.

Anyways thanks for all your help guys

if your going to make it go faster the FIRST mod to take is make it stop......

get some big brakes and porterfield pads , smithy will sort you out im sure

Steve

Agree with Steve. If you are definately getting the other mods (would recommend ya5eens e-01 boost controller by the way as they are the best out there, and avoid boost jets) then you should def think about brake systems. Its expensive but they are the 300zxTT weak point. Skyline ones are an easy upgrade r33 are straight fit and r34 just require drilling out the caliper mounting holes.

before you even think about upgrades make sure the basic mechanicals are A1, hear so many people going on about more power ,uprating the boost etc, and no mention of basic mantainance,so make sure cambelts done ,head gasket is good, maybe uprate that, intercooler and one of the most important things uprate the cooling ,only after all that, and your compression is ok,then proceed with power upgrades, otherwise can be a disaster.

Yani - Iv had it checked over by a 300zx specialist at my local nissan garage (he'l do anything for a crate of beer) he says it is mechanicaly sound, only thing i need to replace are rear shocks which are on their way, Also its going for a full service when i get it back out of the body shop.

As for brakes, am i right in thinking that my best bet is to buy smithys big brake kit and then get my mate from nissan to order me some skyline gtr callipers (on the cheap :D) to go with it? If im right, which i think i have a 67.182742111(recurring)% chance of being, how easy are they to fit, is it easy DIY stuff?

Yep, easy DIY stuff. Don't get nissan disks though, they're £££££

You need the callipar bolts and that's it.

R33 go straight on, R34 need to drill hub carrier to 14mm.
