Hi,

As you can see from my username I work for Jtuner magazine, hopefully you’ll be aware of the magazine by now and the ‘thrash’ type feature we run each month. For those of you who haven’t seen it, we get eight owners together for a fourteen-page feature in the magazine highlighting the tuning potential of a certain model.

So we’d like to get eight of you to come to Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire for a day with the timing gear and a two-mile straight…

First thing to say is that it’s a no stress day out, we attach Datron satellite activated timing gear to the car and you have four attempts at getting times you’re happy with from a standing start, these are in succession and there isn’t time to swap gear between cars and runs I’m afraid. It’s up to you how hard or easy you want to take it, we record 0-60, 0-100, ¼ mile with terminal speed and top speed.

The main emphasis of the day is to show you the owners and your cars in a positive way, encouraging non-owners to read and learn more about your chosen Japanese motor.

So, here’s the deal.

*Aside from any travel expenses you might incur the day is completely free for you. We pay for the track and timing gear.

*We are strictly limited to one car on track at any time and eight cars on track in a holding area plus our own. So no spectator cars, support vehicles etc. No exceptions.

*We deliberately book these days with short notice so people don’t build or modify cars especially for the day, sorry if that doesn’t fit in with you personal circumstances but there will be further opportunities in the future.

*Bruntingthorpe has a strict noise policy in place, with an 89Db limit at 4000rpm. If you have a very noisy exhaust it may be worth doing something about it before coming. We have had 600-800bhp turbocharged cars go through okay, so it’s not as strict as you may think.

*We will be on track all day, 9.30am start, there is a café and toilet located at the other end of the track, but this is two miles away. So come prepared with food and drink.

*It might sound stupid, but you will do upwards of 17miles on track, so make sure you’ve got enough fuel, including getting to the nearest petrol station when leaving (it’s ten miles to some Optimax)

Right, if any of that sounds appealing we’ve got a date, and it’s next week… Thursday the 15th. So what do you say? Anybody game for it? Eight cars would be great…

Here’s a link to Bruntingthorpe’s website, so you know where you’re going.

I hope this is of interest to you, we’ll all be there and look forward to meeting you. These days are our highpoint each month as they’re always good fun.

Cheers, Bryn

Can't wait to see the magazine pics. Has anyone else got any high quality pics? I think the sun was a little bright for our mobile phone pics.Dave

It was a bloody good day out.

my first ever dragging and I wasn't disappointed. I got from 0-60 in 5.65 secs and topped out at 147mph i think. Can't remember the other figurses after last nights boozing!

I should be able to get a few pics and maybe some video up at some point, but I'm in limbo at the moment.

I didn't realise it was Legrath and Glenn who turned up later on.

And I presume it was southwestzmech wearing wearing the Ztech T-shirt?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun and it's good to be able to put a few faces to the names...

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, but without you lot it would have been nothing... Well, I say nothing, it would have been us eating ourselves stupid on half cooked burgers on a runway and talking shop! No comparison...

I've seen a few of the shots and they look... alright ;) The opening shot that Simon did looks amazing... Woohoo, trade secrets and all that ;)

It was a cracking day out, from the people to the weather, I'm glad we seemed to slip through the net on the noise testing too... Sorry if some of you had gone through backflips to accomodate it, but I think the short staffing issue at Brunters was to credit.

Well, I hope you all like what you see in the magazine, I just recieved my copy of Jtuner this morning, which means the 300ZX thrash will be in the next issue, with the GTO's the month after.

Cheers, Bryn

Thanks again to Bryn, Simon and the Jtuner guys, you did us proud! :D

If at all possable, can you pass on Simon's contact details to me as i would like to get some of the pics taken of all the 300zx's for my website and Mickeys (ZworX site)

Also hehe, the other photographer (tall geezer, scooby legacy owner) took a few pics of me arseing about which id like to get aswell.

You'd be even more of a star if you could sort that for me

You do alright... ;)

I'll see what I can do on the photographer front, but to be honest it's down to the magazine really as they own all rights for the first six months or something, I don't really know to be honest.

Best bet is to contact Steve or Matt at the magazine, especially as Dave with the Legacy is somewhere near California as you read this and Simon is randomly on the road around the UK.

Sorry I can't be more help than that, it's just I've tried to sort it out before and ended up as a middle man... Which is cool, but kind of pointless if you get me.

Right, I'm writing your thrash up as I sit here, so I'm going to get back to it...

How do you spell 'slow'? ;) (sometimes I astound myself at how funny I am ;) )
