Just kicked the arse out off a M3 yesterday.

...Got to a set of lights, a car either side of me, then a mustard coloured M3 pulls up to my rear bumper, the lights go green, I hit the gas, I notice the M3 is right up my arse, he pulls out to the left lane and is gaining his bonnet now level with my rear wheels, I start sweating and this point...there was no need, I grab 2nd at 40 mph, the rear wheels light up, then the zed grips...I'm gone..I take four car lengths out of the M3, but he is still tracking me, grab 3rd at 70 mph...I hit 95 the M3 is slowly going backwards then he gives up, chalk up another kill for the Zed!!!

i driven one and me thinks he let you off ive been in some quick z's and nothing on the z side yet is as quick as the new m3 or m5

NICE ONE.I had a run with a brand spanking new M3 down the mad mile

 

When i got into 3rd gear i had him by about 6-7 car lengths, and he got me of the line.

(never had my tc then)

But having said that, it is a very very nice car. I think they are great.

Tooley no way did he let me off, he was going for it big style , he was gaining slightly up to 40, I driven the slighty older M3 EVO (320 bhp) I don't think the new M3(343 bhp) is going to be a lot faster. 1/4 mile test times for the new M3 circa 13.2-13.9. The M3s I've driven are gutless bottom end, you have rev the things to get the power out of them. You got to think the zed performance figures standard (286-300 bhp) are quoted from anything from 1/4 mile times 13.5-14.4. My zed is pushing out 340-350 bhp (manual), so my zed is on par with the M3 at least. A kill is a kill, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile.

 

 

Nice one. I've whooped a new M3 as well. Rolling start from 50mph. He was ahead and waiting to pass a speed camera. Once we got past, he booted it and I was having to lift so as not to go into the back of him. He then decided to move over and I went by him at WOT like he was standing still. Seemed to me that he spent more time changing gear than actually accelerating in gear (they have a 6 speed now dont they?). Anyway, at 1 bar, the new M3 is no match for a Z, period.

Not a kill but I followed an M3 evo a little while ago. He was screwing the absolute nuts off the thing (tons of smoke coming out of his exhaust) my turbo thrust kept pushing me right up his rear end (steady!, no jokes please!), so I had to ease off the power. I then floored it again only to race up behind him so quick that I had to keep backing off until my turning came up. If the b*stard would off pulled over I would of easily nailed him!.

 

Don't you think we should have a seperate road kill section like the 200sx forum??. Would make for some interesting reading...

Good idea Rock star, hopefully when we go Santa pod next month will get some video footage/timing slips posted up on the forum. =) of us doing some more kills, but no doubt that will be cars up there that will make our cars look slow. Saw a Go Kart up there once with a Honda Fireblande engine do the 1/4 mile in the 10s.

He would have done you on the twisties tho'.

 

They are about the same weight.

 

Give me an M3 Anyday, and a T78 & ECU to put on it.

Thats a good point, but if i spent on a zed what i would spend on a new m3, well then im afraid id no longer need to try race an m3 lol.

 

And if i had that much to spend on an new m3 there are plenty other cars id own first.

Oh and i genuanly woudl not get an old m3 to replace my 300, because i really dont think that mcuh of them.

The thing u gotto admire about the M3/M5 is they produce great power without a turbo (so no lag and associated turbo problems) and with whisper quiet exhausts etc and all in luxury comfort etc. not a bad package.

 

As for money... well if you add up what u spend on your Z in a year and compare how much it would costs to lease purchase an M3 there is possibly little difference. Then if u compare insurance esp for a jap import modded I think the figures would be even more interesting.

 

I would have either an M3 or M5 but i like playing around with my Z and a Z is a bit different after all.

Lets make no mistake here, The new M5 eats M3s for breakfast, the M5 is a V8 animal, I wouldn't bother racing one unless I had at least 400+ underneath my right foot. I would have an M5 over the M3 anyday.

Jezz, there is no way an M3 will out-corner a Z (provided the shocks in the Z are working properly!) A good friend of mine has an M3 evo cabrio, and having had it for a week, the Z is far more composed and has far more grip.

That said, he also has a 2000 M5, which makes the Z feel like a fiesta!

Does anyone know what stage a Z would have to be at to beat an M5? I'm sick of being annihillated everytime I have to follow that bloody car.

I think you will have to go for upgraded turbos and injectors , ECU to get 450 plus to really kill an M5.

Yeah the M3 Evo I drove was tall happy through the corners, bit to oversteery for me.

well on the same day duffman and myself were at santapod, there was an M5 brand new shape one. Well he was running 15.7 over the 1/4 time after time after time. We were running high 13's to very low 14's all day long. Now before the whole world comes raining down on my. It was fairly wet surface and the way i see it , it is the same for everyone on the same day.

Cant contest to whooping any M3's but whilst on the way to JEFTTs, on the A5 I destroyed a new 540i and when I say destroy, I mean chewed and spat back out.

 

It gained about 50 yards on me after boxing me in behind an artic and then I finally went past him at 120.

Not wishing to pour cold water on some of these contests between Z's M3's , Supras or whatever, there are other factors involved. Like is the driver really trying to beat you or just stay with you. Is he on the way to the shops to buy some hangover pills and you're out for a blast. Does he really want to race his £40k car at 120mph+ with some other completely unknown quantity. Sometimes I can'tbe assed to race an RS turbo and he revs off and probably tells all his mates he's just done a Z. At the end of day it's about what you the driver get out of the car.Ultimately a slow car that feels fast is better than a fast car that feels slow.

It's not that it we don't beat other cars you just can't use it as a relaible yardstick to say the Z is faster /slower than n M£ or scooby.

At the end of the day. If there was drag race for money and I had a choice of which car to use in my race, and the choice was between the M3 and my Zed. I would pick the Zed everytime. Coogs sniff some petrol ur getting old time for your pipe and slippers lol. Just to say the point again for Timmy and Coogs, the M3 WAS going for it!!

How do you know that it was an M3, and not a 330 Diesel/330i behind you?

p.s. I know an M3 (real) driver who drives his ,company paid for, BMW during the week and drives an AC Cobra (genuine) for fun at the weekends!

How do I know, before we all pulled up to the lights, I passed him in traffic before hand. M3 badge, 4 exhaust tailpipes, the flared arches, the vents just after the front wheel arch. The big fuck off M3 19 inch rims you can't get more M3 then that!
