I've had quite a few phone calls, PM's, and e-mails recently regarding the recent goings on whith the forum.

But I have to share this with everybody.

I had a phone call today from a member, telling me that the committee is completely out of order, all the membership is entitled to know what's going on, 'Behind the scenes', reason being?

"I pay my membership fees, therefore I OWN the club!"

Now, anyone who knows me, knows im a fairly reasonable person, if a 'situation' arises on the forum, i'd rather sort it quickly and amicably, rather than blast it all over the forum, but, I am also a guy who wont be pushed around.

This comment that was made took me completely by surprise, and to be fair, I couldnt understand the logic behind it. So I have a couple of questions for you.

If you pay a fee to become a member of a working mans club, do you then part own it?

If you pay a fee to join a health club, do you own part of that club?

There is only one guy who 'Owns' this club, thats the guy who originally set it up, paid for the domain name, etc. He is, and always be, the Honarary Club President. The committee and the moderators are only here to assist with the running of this forum.

Who is the the Honarary Club President?

Last time I spoke to him, he didnt know he was Honorary President!

I thought Andrew owned this club.... didn't he set it up in the first place?

Craig set it up

Well Craig setup the original forum with a guy called Nico. We run into a situation where there was nowhere to host the forum and some funds had to be raised to pay for a server and hosting. At that time Craig had sold his car and he picked a selection of people he trusted to continue the work. We formed an official club and here we are now.

Errm, I believe that the members do effectively own working mens' clubs. ;)

Honorary President.............Craig Stratton (Craig)

If an individual does own the club, then should there be or is there a written agreement between both parties so as the owner is not held responsible for members actions on this forum? This might be a good idea, i wouldn't like to think that one person may take the can for something or maybe the law wouldn't work this way?

To carry on from that then, when anyone registers with the club do they / can they in future have to agree to terms that state anything they post is a personal opinion and any legal matters taken from those comments have no connection to the club, just with the individual that wrote them?

Too right. Has the club been floated? Is this 300zx.co.uk plc? Nope. I suppose its more like a fan club like the funday times club. Remember the funday times? I wasn't a member though. In fact this is the first club I've been a member of!

That is kind of the case, except that the law is a little less up to date and tends to view the club or the web site hosting company as a 'publisher' of that information, in which case libel law is usually applicable. (Remember libel is written, slander is spoken). Of course that is dependent upon whether it's true or false !

However, if we can demonstrate that the offending comments were removed quickly and efficiently, to our best ability, then it's unlikely to be taken any further - hence the importance of the Mods being on the ball.

Its like a bloody monkeys tea party just lately. I have my opinions like everyone else, but its only a bloody car club for christ sake. Why is everyone chucking there teddies around like its the end of the world. I can understand why Paul is p*ssed but everyone else just seems to be getting on one for the sake of it. Lets just have some group love (preferably ladies too please, thankfully there are a few more joined lately).

Look, I don't normally post on this kind of topic but feel it needs to be done.

I PAY MY MEMBERSHIP but I most certainly don't own the club.

The club committee has enough to do without anyone and everyone butting in. . When a problem arises it should stay between the parties involved and the moderators if needed. It is high time that all these posts of people whining on kept it off the forum until it has been settled.

I personally think the mods need to be rewarded for their time and effort in all the work, that not a lot of us have the time to spare, and to keep on nit picking on them on a problem that they haven't had anything to do with is unjustifiable.

A word to the mods on the recent trader application problem, (this is just my personal opinion) to allow any trader to have a monopoly on the sale of any products in my eyes is also unjustifiably wrong, this in my opinion of course is simply because I feel we should be allowed the opportunity to choose who we would like to spend our money with.

Sorry, rant over. That's all I have to say

Dave
