got caught out on the motorway the other day, was absolutely pissing it down and about an inch of standing water all the way, now she started miss firing the other day, im thinking maybe ive sokaed my maf/afm? i have a hks mushroom intake and ive heard theyre a bit of a bitch for soaking in water, i havnt driven her for a couple of days, is it likely to dry out and be ok, or is it doomed? thinking maybe once its sorted a splash guard and an apexi might be an idea? j

I would take the sponge out and dry it off or it could cost you £100 plus for a used MAF, if it is not already cream crackered!

will do, fingers crossed eh? would changing it to an apexi help in future? not the best of designs really!

the apexi IF your not sealed properly (ie no splash guard and headlight panel not sealed) will also cause problems in the wet m8

luckily after the coughing sputtering i got away with sealing everything properly and (touch wood) not had a problem since:)

forgot to say after all my problems i actually fitted these lol obviously the first picture needs the other apexi fitting, i took the photo when it arrived

the other photo is from the forum

good system as they point UP

I'd do something straightaway jacks, even if it is just fitting a standard airbox (I've got one you can borrow if you want). I had a HKS mushroom and the same issues. I didn't bother changing it for 6mths but by that time the MAF went which cost me another £120 plus the new filter. I put the standard air box on for a few months through the worst of the rain as I needed the reliability for work. I must admit though there is a noticable difference in power between the HKS mushroom and the Apexi. The mushroom was much better in the dry, just useless in the wet. I want to get a twin apexi system like the one above. I know people seem to think the apexi are a gucci design and flow as much air but sorry peeps THEY DONT! They are so much smaller than the HKS or Blitz its no surprise. I might put the mushroom back on for a day just to test if there's any other factors, but the car doesn't seem to reach as high boost at certain rpm/gears.

best to contact Danny

as for them being the gucci lol, aint a clue

but certainly cured my problems and car runs like a good 'un

so giorgio armani for me :nelson:

ps before any says twin doesn't give you any advantage powerwise

i know, but system does the job at a bit more cost

so good enuff for me;)

I aint got any complaints, it doesn't blow the MAF so I get to work! not as fast as with the HKS though. Need to get a twin I reckon, see if that does the trick.
