Speedo/Delimiter Help (well maybe i don't know yet!)

Was just browsing through the pics of my new motor (hopefully picking it up this week! :hyper: :nana2: ) and came across this one....

attachment.php?attachmentid=22972&stc=1

Now my speedo on the NA reads 180 and its been converted to MPH (theres a little black sticker over the K so it read mph) but this one appears to only go to 120.

Does this mean it'll be limited?

I'm pretty sure it would be otherwise the needle would go off the end of the scale.

So does this mean i'm also going to get a little chiming as i go over 70 as a warning?

Why would nissan fit a 120mph speedo to a 170 mph car???

I'm confuddled?!?!

That is just a re calibrated speedo face, its a qick and easy way to make them pass the mot over here without de limiting them.

So underneath is a standard jap 180mph speedo you reckon, so all i need is the delimeter/recalibration chip?

those replace the stock one, it may or may not be limited, depends on the ecu. In a way it is better than the convertor chips because it doesnt bugger up your steering/hicas/autobox.

it makes the car think its going much slower than it actually is, 62% of the actual speed to be precise, and that makes the steering much lighter, the hicas behaviour all wrong and the autobox to be unpredictable.

to be honest i don't think i'm going to be going over 112mph anyway and if it means that much of a difference in the way the car behaves i don't think i'll bother.

Even on a track you're not going to be pushing much more than 112 on the straights i wouldn't have thought

That is a set of 180kph jap clocks, with a MPH face over the top.

Get a set of UK clocks. Its the best all-round solution, but a Convertor will do the job its just not as ideal (I had a convertor on my TT for a year, and my NA only has a convertor).

p.s Its a TT, you will go over 112mph, even if you dont mean to ;) . I think chunk hit close to 170mph 'ish on the Straights at Bruntingthorpe, and I expect the straigthts at Japfest are a lot more than 112mph

Would UK clocks derestrict it?
