 Ok Guys, As some of you may know I've been having nothing but trouble with my jap TT auto. Since December 05 I've had the timing belt split and replaced. The car ran fine for a couple of weeks and then started playing up again. It keeps dying on me (as in ,it loses power and then stops completely) The engine coolant sensor has been changed as the old one had damaged and corroded pins, the PTU has been upgraded to a series 2 item and the alternator was sent off to be repaired( had brushes replaced). I went to collect it this evening and I was told it was charging fine.. I drove for about 1 mile and the damn thing konked out again!! What the hell can i do to sort this problem out once and for all??? The battery was totally dead, I did have my lights on at the time and the stereo was loading a navigation disc but this was while i was driving.. Any ideas guys??? Richie

I forgot to mention that the HICAS light and the ABS lights came on almost immediately as i started driving

The car wouldn't turn over at all and all the warning lights barely came on mate

Right, I'd still drop test the battery to see if that's your problem or a bad connection. ;) -Battery dead-charging circuit fault.Battery good-main feed or earth contact and owt' in between!

Sorry to sound stupid mate but I don't have a clue about drop charging batteries or where to find charging circuit faults

I'll pass on any info to my mechanic and hopefully he'll understand the jargon :))

You don't sound stupid bud!-if your unsure get it to an auto electrician to diagnose, electrical faults can be found in 5 mins or 5 days! :o ;)

Thanks for the advice bud! It gets fierce frustrating when you've waited a few weeks to get the damn car back and it still doesn't run the way it should.. I hate to say it but i've never had the hardship that this car is causing before.. but as you say it is more than likely a loose wire or connection.. Thanks, Richie

sorry to hear this Richie - sounds like exactly the same thing that has been happenbing to mine - replaced the ptu but didnt help. Car currently undergoing TLC as the timi9ng belt has given way and buggered up 3 vavles but i suspect when i get it back it will keep cutting out again.

Hi Richie, seen a similar problem on a Z up here recently the cause was water had got into the fuse panel (behind the plastic panel next to throttle pedal) and had caused the rear of the panel to corrode the various relay terminals, might be worth a look just in case this is the problem.

Had exactly the same problem, tried and tested the alternator, the wiring, re-did the earth cables etc, in the end changed the battery for a nice new more powerful 1 and the problem never returned ! ;)
