UK Spec Speedo

I’ve just ordered a UK spec speedo, I already have one of Andy’s chips in, so to install the speedo do I simply replace the unit and remove the converter?

Thanks

David

Didn't know Andy did converters, best bet is to as Andy :D With a UK spec clock you can have the ECU chipped properly (by Andy)

the uk clock should fit but keep in mind that there are two layouts for clocks i think series 1 and 2 j spec and uk spec differ slightly ( gauge mounts points ) and you may need to remove or adjust some of the gauge mounting points to make it work

I've got one of Andy's ECU chips, and the car came with one of Luke's converters

The UK clocks will fit straight into an imported car and everything will work just perfect like the UK cars. I've had a few imports and always sourced the UK clocks for them and never had any problems. Just keep in mind if you have a series 1 then you need the series 1 clocks, and likewise if you have a series 2.

Yep, it's quite straight forward.

Depending on Series I/Series II parts you may need to take the speedo unit guts and put then in the case in your car, rather than swap the whole unit.

I didn’t thinks to ask if the replacement was a Series I or Series II, but as Andy’s says, I can just swap the internals, and used my old casing if they are different.

How much of the dash has to be removed to replace the clocks, and if the mileage is miles adrift on the replacement clock can it be easily altered?

Thanks

David

As for removing the dash, have a look at this >> http://www.darkbadger.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Docs/Fitment_of_LED.doc (Right click, Save As) It's the 'How-To' for fitting LED's to the dash, but has how to get in to it.

HTH ...........As for altering the mileage, well that's illegal!! ;)

Even if you were to increase it to match that on the old speedo?

Surely only lowering it to make it appear to have covered less mileage is illegal?

Or is any alteration illegal?

Thanks

David

I suspect any alteration is illegal, but I would have though that 'correction' wouldn't matter. Who'd know anyway ? I set mine right when I swapped my clocks over.
