I went to unlock my car and the alarm disarmed but the doors did not unlock.

I thought doh central locking has gone probably the fuse ill just unlock the door with the key. The key turns the lock both ways (never used it before) and would not unlock doh!

I then tried the passenger door with the key and it opened fine. So I crawled over to unlock the drivers door but the lock would not budge from the inside either - S*&T!

I then armed/disarmed the alarm with the fob a few times and the alarm works fine but no central locking at all.

So it seems my drivers door lock is jammed stopping it all from working. I take it the lock should still move manually if it was just a blown fuse etc?

As now i cant open the drivers door at all!

use a cocktails stick to open the flap on the lock and then squirt it in the hole and try turning the key, keep on reapplying the wd

yeah stick the straw in and squirt. The thing is the lock itself turns fine, thats not jammed its the door mech as the bit you lock/unlock the door from inside with is jammed so i dont think it will get to it

Depends if yours is UK or Jap? If it's UK, you should be able to get the door panels off. If it's Jap, then you've got a problem, as you'll need to get the seat belt finishings off, and there are two screws from the door jam side!! Saying that though, you still might be able to get the rest of the panel off enough to get somthing in there to pop the lock open!

Sorry I can't be much help, but looks like you'll be investigating tomorrow now ;) Drivers seat right back, or better still take it out, as you'll get more work room that way, it's only four bolts, doesn't take long.

Well ive done it

The central locking motor was jammed

I ripped the door card appart and disconnected it from the lock

Now i need a new motor and door card - PM me if you have one ta

zeds dont have a motor in the drivers door as standard.get an aftermarket one from maplins for a fiver.it would have had one fitted when the alarm was fitted.peice of piss to fit and only two wires.

Yes they do, and you need the proper one to opperate the passenger lock, I know as i had to fit a new one so that my passenger side worked!

edk83, have a word with AndyZ, he should be able to sort you out.

there is no motor in a stock zed drivers door.there is a switch which is operated from the back of the lock that sends a signal to the passenger door.on a stock car if you lock the car from the pass door the drivers will not lock as it has no motor.this is why when the alarm installer fitted a toad alarm to my car a motor had to be fitted as when you set the alarm it can then centrally lock the drivers door also.

I stand corrected! But then I knew what edk83 was talking about, as if you read the first post you'll see that he was talking about the 'Switch', and not the additional alarm 'Motor'. As he could not operate the drivers door from either the outside or the inside, then the 'Switch' obviously had jammed!

But, like you say, it is indeed a switch and not a motor ;)

All the Zeds we have broke have never had a motor in the drivers door, if it has had a alarm fitted it will have a aftermarket one

the switch on the drivers door is now free as i have disconnected the rod from the motor, the locking mech still works ok.

its not a motor - more of an actuator just the electrinically move the locking mech in the door, now when i move the switch on the drivers side the passanger door locks and unlocks electrically fine so there must be an actuator on both sides. Sorry maybe i was confusing people by saying motor.

Its the black thing in the bottom of the door then has a rubber boot on the top and a rod connecting it to the locking mech above that i need - surely this is oem?

motors/actuators, or whatever you call them were fitted by the alarm company when i had the alarm/immoboliser fitted

the key has never fitted the drivers door ?

cheers dude, ill visit maplins. No the keys doesnt work in the drivers door but i had never tried it till the motor died! maybe its had a new door at some point or something.

Shes in the body shop now having the imola spoiler done, ill send yea a pic when its done!

Ed, is the part you need the one that is in the picture you posted? If it is, then it's OEM, as it's an electrical sensor. It sensers what position the Drivers door lock is in, then operates the passenger lock motor accordingly. It is possible to unscrew this item and see why it jammed. If it's simply a mechanical jam, then you may be able to free it off, but when mine went it was all corroded inside and really wasn't worth saveing.

Hope that is of help to you, wouldn't want you to go out and buy the wrong bit or waste your time. In fact, if you want it confirming one way or the other, then take a good pic and post it here, I'm sure myself or others that have seen them before can confirm one way or the other. ;)

Does anyone have a helpful pictures showing what the different bits are? My central locking has stopped working and my drivers door is jammed shut. I got some oem solenoids on the off chance but the garage say its an aftermarket (clifford alarm) one that has two contacts one pos the other neg when locked and they swap around when unlocked. Is this the 'actuator' that is described above?

Thanks guys and gals!
