considering fitting the racelogic traction control as my first mod to my Zed, rather than upping the boost.

whats peoples opinions on the system?

i was out in the car at the weekend and was struggling with it in the wet, the back end was stepping out all over the place and i was taking it easy - driving like a granny!!

time for new tires then! seriously though, good performace tires make a world of difference.

Not taking anything away from traction control though as that will help too when it lets go

its on brand new bridgestone's, they were put on in japan. i know jap tyres don't have the higher speed rating, but i won't be driving it that fast, i've already scored 6 points

probably better things to spend your money on for a first mod, part of the fun of driving a zed is learning how to drive it ;)

Which model of Bridgestones ? The Japs use differenty tyres to us, and tend not to be EU rated and should'nt of made it through the Mot. In fact, they are absolutely useless on Uk roads, expecially in the wet!

well they got through the MOT ok.

can't remember which model tyre, and the car is away being stored untill i get the alarm fitted next week, so i can't check yet

would the money for the TC be better spent on a set of 18's with decent tyres?

and then save up for the TC in time for winter?

jap tyres + wet british roads = psychotic handling, in fact with the yoko's mine had on, it would light 'em up in a straight line in the dry easily, and nothing short of dangerous to drive in the wet, get some good rubber on there asap mate ;)

RLTC is a great system, but as said above you should ensure that you've got a good set of correctly rated and inflated tyres on the back first. Traction control will compensate for bad tyres, but they will ultimately have a detrimental effect on performance as the TC will be cutting the power to keep you in a straight line.

RLTC and a good set of tyres is the best combination and will provide quicker acceleration, especially out of junctions, bends and roundabouts ;)

Feel free to contact me if you've got any specific questions or need advice

Get traction control fitted whilst you still got a Zed in one piece.Just read through all the history about how many Zeds have crashed and been written off without it.First mod and a must get for these ar$$ twitchy cars. Not too long ago a Zed owner friend said that he wished he'd took my advice before he wrote off his car.Hindsight is not an option when yer pride and joy goes to the crusher.

Pete, get some decent tyres, I had jap spec bridgestones on my skyline, great in the dry, nightmare in the wet. the worst wet performance tyres i have ever had on a car.

Changing them to S03 bridgestones made a massive difference.

Quality tyres and then traction control is the most logical step. Better tyres will increase your cornering speed & traction.....

Agreed. When I first imported my car, I drove around with the Japanese tyres on it for a few months. It was almost impossible to drive at times. I changed to some decent UK tyres and the car was transformed...

thanks everybody for the advice, will definately sort the tyres first.

a mate has got a R32 GTR with some 18" ultralites fitted, he's going to be selling these soon and has offered them to me first. will the fit my Zed, they've got brand new tyres fitted, 255 wide all round.

Traction Control ???? dont mean to offend anyone but just to let you know the 300zx is a drivers car !!! if you dont want the arse end stepping out dont buy one of these cars because thats what they do its suppossed to be fun !! if you guys dont want the arse stepping out trade it in for a skyline forget rltc my opinion is its a waste of money get some good rubber learn to drive and enjoy the car !!!

Partly right Jim, but I think Pete is talking Nylon type tyres that with high temps are great, but in the UK are nothing short of dangerous.

Pete get some Bridgestone S02's on and your car will be transformed.

You really need to be looking at 225's up front and 265's on the rear. Wether you go for 18's or not.

Then when your confident with your car start letting that arse hang out :nana2: :nana2:

I'm gonna buy a set of ultralight Nurburgring 18's myself and as far as I've been told they will fit. But always check the pcd for yourself, don't take someones word for it.

Have you tried RLTC Jim? Mmm - thought not!

I admit it's nice to be without it (that's why you can switch it off!), but for "controlled" arse out action it is a great mod. You can happily allow 20% slip and if you lose it completely, then it saves your arse. Prevents you stacking it in a tree/ditch/kerb mate ;)

i've been looking at the 18" Nur's in black myself. post a pic when you get them so i can see how good they look. also looking at the A-Tec's. can't make my mind up between the two.
