Could be a sign of a dirty or faulty Coolant sensor. Give the connections a good clean and if possible remove the coolant sensor and give it a clean. Cold start is known as the choke were it runs a rich mixture amongst otherthings to keep the engine running at high revs and gradually decreases as the coolant gets warmer. if the sensors faulty or giving duff readings it can cuase a high idle. May also be worth checking the base idle and the TPS settings.

Base idle tps settings???

the temp sensor is new if it is the yellow one on the left but i thought when that runs its only at about 1500rpm..this is running 2000rpm???

Ok, do a search for TPS, it will show you how to check using a voltmeter or DataScan if your lucky enough to have it. Its an easy enough job and worth checking if you have a high Idle.

Just remembered you fitted Dump valves recently? did it do this before fitting them? may be worth checking the vac hoses on them as a vacum leak can also cuase a bit of a high idle.
