I'd quite happily kiss your ass as long is it wasn't spotty/hairy or the size of Newport Pagnell.

them w**ker filth police outside Japfest gave me a fixed penalty of £30.00 for my front plate and loads of others were pulled over too.....

you can just imagine the conversation at the filths home that night :

FILTHS PARTNER : " hello dear had a good day? "

FILTH " Oh yes, a very good day "

FILTHS PARTNER " why dear did you crack an illegal human trafficking ring or arrest a major drug dealer in the area, or did you do some real police work and take some burglars off the street "

FILTH " no, better than that love, I gave out loads of fixed penalty tickets to a load of people at a jap car show, NOW THATS REAL POLICE WORK !! "

FILTHS PARTNER " my hero - YOU ARE A REAL MAN, the country is a safer place when you go on duty, you wait til tonight i'm to f**k you so hard in your arse again so you are ready for another days REAL POLICE WORK - you stud ! "

or something along those lines anyway........

Mine is correct size, clearly visable + as car was registered before November 1997 the stick on plate is legal, but I still don't stop em trying to do ya.

Is that actually legal like that mate? good idea if it is. Wonder if I can do the same on my 99spec if I get pulled up?

Read the regs and i'm confident that I could win my case in court with it.

The regs say it most be clearly legable at X distance and that the background must be X size and letters X size (carn't be arsed to look it up for mesurements) that Stick on number plates became illegal after 1997 (my car is 1994 and therefor not subject to those rules) but no rules as to the angle of the number plate.

So it's legal.

Not my cuppa tea either Hunniepie, but hey, each to their own, but omg look at the whinging you have started...people still complain, they know their plates are illegal yet moan when penalised. Moral of the story, show plates for shows and legal plates for roads, you won't get a ticket and won't be £30 out of pocket!

I got a pull at Japfest to. No front plate at all...

And the back one is to small, so I was told.. Got let off with a fix it notice.

So they aint all bad..

Hi, can you tell me where you got this statement from, I got pulled again today, I had a legal plate on ( they said i was going a tad fast, no action taken ), I asked the copper about stick on plates and he said to look on the DVLA website, so I did and it says that stick on plates are not allowed, I was going to get one and if I get pulled then i want to show the police the regulations you mentioned......

thanks

Andy....

My front number plate is the same size, if not smaller than yours Mr red;

IMG_1589.jpg

The first and last time I got pulled for it, I explained to the copper that the front number plate on a Japanese car is allowed to be the same size as the country of origin, though I failed to mention that mine is a UK car!!

Notice your plate is hidden inside the front vent, that probably isnt helping!!!

the front number plate on a Japanese car is allowed to be the same size as the country of origin,

Is that right mate, where does it say this? as I'm always being pulled over for having a 3/4 size front plate

So what the copper is saying to you is that All early lotus Elise and 930 Porsche's etc any car that came standard with stick on plates as standard have been made illegal? I got the information from the M.O.T website ages ago. Also seach google legal requirements of number plates. The Law only came into force in November 1997. So any car that is pre 1997 cannot be illegal to have one. Just the same as number plates with black backgrounds. I carn't remember when they stopped them being legal, but it can only apply to vehicals built after that date. You cannot retro spectively apply a law. Otherwise nearly all clasic cars would be illegal as they don't comply with number plates, seat belts, Radial tyres, dip and high beam, indicators and Fog lights. The only law that has been retrospectively applied on the grounds of safety to other road users is rear break lights.
