OK my Z went on the rollers again yesterday first to see how much power it was making now with the BoostJets installed and JWT Chip and also to do a before and after dyno run using my standard Millers Oil and then with this new much Hyped Royal Purple Stuff...

It says on the can that it will actually increase BHP, improve fuel economy, reduce emmision by up to 50% and give a much better wear rate than the leading oil... To good to be true??? Thought i'd give it a go as my garage we're offering me free dyno runs and the oil at cost price to see if it would really work!!!

Ok so my first 3 runs with my normal oil gave my Z an overall output of 377.8 BHP / & 349.6 ibft of torque running at 1 Bar boost & Optimax..

Then the oil change...

The diff oil/ gearbox and engine oil we're all drained and replaced with the Royal Purple stuff.. From the stench of the diff and gearbox oil it smelt like it hadn't been change in the lifetime of my car, about 14Years!!! :hurl:

The new stuff is a really dark purple colour (Suppose it would be with a name like that!)

Than after the engine was warmed up it was back on the dyno...

To my and my mechanics amazement the Z suddenly shot up to an overall power rating of 383.7BHP and 391.2ibft torque!!! That an increase of 6BHP and 42ibft of torque!!! We did another 2 runs just to make sure they we're conclusive and the following 2 runs gave and extra 0.1BHP so 383.8BHP overall!!! Was dissapointed I didn't get over the magic 400BHP but thats probably down to the old JWT chip so if anyone knows of a better more up to date ECU I Could replace my JWT with then let me know!!

I've also got the runs on my mobile but need a decent 3GP to avi converter if anyone wants to see them...

Anyway here are the pics...

You forgot to mention where you got the oil from and what grade you used in diff and gearbox! :p

Bugger!!! I got the oil from my garage "Richards Bros" http://www.richardsbros.com 01209 212234

As for the grading for the diff and gearbox i've forgotten!!! :headvswal

I'll find out and post it back up here!!! Jon ;)

Good call m8

I need to get some oil for box & diff, also a bit unsure about the 8 litres of mobil 1 semi-synthetic 10/40's I got on an inpulse buy from costco. :D

Used it on a few cars myself, its the recommended oil in the states for Toyota 2jz's and nissan Dett's but to be honest - it took that dyno run there to convience me it actually made a difference. But have you ruled out any other causes that may have led to the 6bhp increase i..e. more oil in car on previous run, cooler air to intake on final runs etc etc??

Guess Oilman will be along soon to throw a spanner in the works lol

are you running any other upgrades mate?

or just the chip and jets?

Well basic car set up is Blitz SUS air filter, Mongoose Exhaust, JWT Chip and Boost Jets to give 1Bar Peak Boost, + 360 Degree Roller Baring Tubs.. Still on standard Intercoolers and injectors cams and all other engine internals... EGR Valves removed as well..

can i ask, what size jets are you using? i am getting some tomorrow to replace my crappy manual controller things

also, how do you find the jwt chip? i have heard horror storys about them

You forgot to mention the extra 41ibft torque!! Ambient Air temp was the same 17 degrees, as the dyno computer mesures this as well, oil was checked before and after, full to the max level and water temp was also equal to previous run... It does work and does was it says on the tin!! Try some!! ;)

I think they are 1.2mm from memory, it was an e-bay purchase with the chip... I find the chip too safe to be honest but it does raise the rev limiter to 7500 and gets rid of the 165MPH top speed restrictor (Car now tops out at 188Mph!!) and gives me really good fuel economy too.. I'm looking ti change the chip now cause it's mapped for the US 91Octane... I'm sure I could get better results and over the 400BHP mark with a better mapped chip...

cheers mate, impressive dyno, and tempted to that oil too

Speak to AndyP the chips he has kicked a genuine JWT chip right up the arse,he has had this chip in his car for years now without any problems.

Cheers Iain, Thanks!! ;) Do you know how I can get hold of AndyP and one of his chips??? Looking at his dyno plots it's gotta be worth giving one of those a go!!

Yeah have used it a few times but only cause we'd run outta Pro S, but like lots of products that make claims on power increase its something we never dyno'd with - its only oil afterall. Any power increase we felt we put down to the fact the oil was changed during a full service. But at least this has now been real world tested by yourself and is shown to work - Top job man!

Great results Jon, can't believe an oil could make such a torque and power difference? You must have the most powerful car in kerrier/Penwith!

Nice one dude if you could e-mail me that would be cool, thanks!!! Really eager to try Andy's chip!! :hyper: I know I keep saying it but when I got a spare £20 and not spending it on the Z I will subscribe!!! About bloody time I should really, been on here for nearly 3 years now!! ;)

I'd like to think so Dave ;), a bit childish of me but i've managed to kick everyones ass that's tried to race me so far down this neck of the woods!!!! :D Just need a decent Eprom chip to replace my old JWT one to get over that magic 400BHP barrier now!!!

PS, I still blame you for taking me out in your Z last summer!!! You showed me what a Z should go like!!! :D

hi john

gonna go over to r bros myself for some soon..good call that man

To it dude!!! ;) There gonna do a promo on the oil and my Z with the before and after results... Now that the oil has worked it's way round the engine a bit I can notice that when backing off the throttle completely there is much less drag when coasting to a slow down when the car is in gear and the engine noise is much quieter too!!! Gear changes are also significantly improved, feel tighter and more responsive...

do you know your acceleration in m/s2

No, i'm afraid not but since the oil change the turbos seem to spool up quicker and the car pulls much harder and squats right down on hard acceleration. If you check the green solid line on the dyno graph that show the boost after the oil change, and the broken green line shows the boost befor the oil change.. ;)
