Any one know of a good 7" touch screan at a realistic price. To run my laptop from as a car install. Don't want side and pop up type. Want a static mounted. So I can run my itunes, everything on my laptop and a diagnostic program.

Another Front end worth a look at is 'Media engine'

Don't know how you are for space Mark but I've got a 10.1" screen I might be selling for a very reasonable price ;)

That looks very good, but being a Techno Nub nuts is that just a management system or a hrdware software combo. How much is it? Is it Glitch free yet? will it work on any Laptop with remote touch screan?

10" wouldn't fit in the centre pannel which is where I want to put it. Still no Bumper pics though. :rant: :rofl: :rofl:

Meh. Nevermind ;) (forgot to say it was touchscreen as well! Lol!). Working on the bumper this afternoon, trying to get a bit more done before I go out tonight to make it look a bit more presentable for photos! :D

centrafuse loks good, but the system requirements are lots higher than most other carputer front ends. Also it requires xp which is really slow to boot up, personnaly i think windows me is better suited as you can get it to boot to a front end in about 10-20 seconds from ignition on with todays p3/p4 laptops.

Minimum System Requirements:

* 600 MHz Processor

* 128 MB of RAM

Recommended System Requirements:

* 1GHz or faster

* 256 MB of RAM or more

You would'nt want to use a system lower spec than that for any CarPC.

WinXp is'nt an absolute must, but I would reccomend it anyway for its stability, better support and software compatablity. I strip down and optimise each installation which improves performance and boot times, although most Carputers will be configured to start from Hibernation or Standby which provides you with your quick startup in XP.

Be carefull with the non branded Korean/china Screens that can be found on ebay, most use older Panasonic screen hardware and poor quality touchscreen overlays which reduce brightness and contrast.

XP boots in about 20 seconds for me on my machines, turn off all of the BIOS notification
