The PC ones are cheep as chips...LOL......Wouls look shit on your zed though.

reading up on them the koyo has a thin fabricated filler neck and is prone to twisting.

The Howe has a billet neck machined from a lump of alluminium so much stronger.

I will buy Howe when i need one

Just to let you know Paul, the issues with the Koyo neck have been resolved.

Everyone has a Koyo because that's what the traders seem to be selling/promoting...

I've got a Howe racing rad and it's huge and very well made, no complaints from me.

Ditto ;)

Koyo originally sold stock replacements for many different cars, in time they simply made the same rad again but using all alloy construction and slightly thicker, hence why it's the most popular, literally 100's of retailers selling Koyos rads.

Howe however were tasked by Z1 to build a rad to their spec and so Howe really only sell this particular spec rad to Z1 who inturn sell them to other retailers, hence why you don't see it as much from traders worldwide.

If cash is not a problem, then the Mc culloch SPL custom rad looks the biz ;)

All aluminum radiator with internal heat exchanger. Heat exchanger has 3/8 NPT inlet/outlet, and can be used for engine oil cooling or transmission/differential oil cooling.

Benefits to oil cooling through heat exchange with coolant:

No pressure loss from bypass style stock oil cooling system. Our twin-turbo develops over 100 PSI of oil pressure at 6000+ rpms for maximum engine/bearing protection.

Coolant capacity is much larger, so coolant acts as a thermal bath to stabilize oil temperatures, reducing spikes in oil temperature.

Coolant warms up oil faster to ideal operating temperature (~160-200degF) on cold starts.

Internal heat exchanger is safer; Rocks/debris could rupture an external oil cooler which can cause catastrophic oil loss.

We offer a custom plumbing kit which includes -8 hose, sandwich adapter, plug for stock oil cooler system, and aluminum AN fittings. This setup also works on non-turbo models. We recommend the Billion hi-flow thermostat when using this system.

I've got an ARC rad in mine.

don't know how much they cost, but it seems to work!

ARC is a big name in japanese tuning and they have made some spot on products, inc intake, intercoolers, radiators etc,so by standards should be a good rad

I tending towards a Howe rad (ARC appear very expensive) but will it matter that I have auto? That is I need to be able to cool gearbox oil as well...

Howe, Koyo or what ever you choose you are going to need an external oil cooler for the box. Only stock rads have the auto box oil coolers in the end tank.

Smithy has popsted one from SPL that has the Autobox cooler built in, so no dramas there.

But a cheaper upgrade may be achieveable by buying an separate oil cooler for the autobox, with an upgraded radaitor.

Thanks Greg, it's good to know I've got a good rad.

One of the previous owners has gone to some effort with my car as it also has an oil cooler (and it's a manual).

:hyper: Extra cooling power :hyper:

ARC are one of japans best makers of intercoolers and rads so you have a good one there ;) think i looked into one of theres a while back and it worked out at about £7-800 for a rad !!
