i have a constant whirring noise evident at the rear of the car right by the back boxes.it runs continuously and as i am a new zed owner jus wondered if any 1 can shed sum light as to whether its ment to be like that or if its cause for concerm many thanx in advance

The only thing I can think of towards the back is the fuel pump that sits inside the fuel tank.

 

You could turn on the ignition without starting the car an listen out for it (you might need to let the pressure out of the tank first).

 

I can't say I've ever heard mine whirring away though.

mine does this and i notice it wirring about 5 minute after i have stopped the car. it runs for about 2 mins then stops then a couple of minutes later starts up again. all i can put it down to is its releasing the pressure in the tank or drawing fuel back through the return pipe.

You should'nt be able to hear the fuel pump. It may be that the Fuel ECU failed and a previous owner bypassed it so that it runs continously.
