Well, I knew I had a tiny coolant leak somewhere but I didn't realise the engine was running quite so warm. Finally got Datascan running properly on Karputer and reading mid to high 90's for water temp. Anyone any suggestions for cooling her down other than the obvious radiator...

  sorry only sensible ideals LOL

remove the rubber from above the bulk head where the bonet rest's to let some air flow through

maybe your thermostat is not opening properly or your viscous fan is buggered ?

When the engine is at its hottest stop it and see if the fan carries on spinning or stops dead with the engine ?

Is that what the viscous fan does? Runs after you cut the engine to stop it overheating once off? If so i dont think mine works as i watched the water temp get upto 100c after turning the engine off the other day. Im also missing a fan reley from the engine compartment fuse box, could this have anything to do with it?

That would be your axillary fan yes relay missing would stop that working. The viscous fan is the one attached to the front of the engine on the centre pulley. This will only move when the engine is running. ;)

I noticed this a while back but ignored it, Is this the one that runs a fan once the engine is off to stop it from cooking?

which fan is supposed to continue to run if its not the big belt driven one on the front of the block?

none...Zeds don't have this feature.

And the electric auxilary fan only turns on when certain conditions are met and usually when it's already too late (imo):

If all else fails. you can manually switch the Aux fan, a handy backup when stuck in traffic on hot day, without waiting for the temp to rise to 105C or making the engine work harder at idle by running the A/C to get the fan to come on at 90C to 99C.

The thermostat is relatively new and I will check on the fan, thanks.
