My RPS clutch arrived yesterday :hyper: (cheers Smithy!) - this is now the third clutch I've had to buy for my zed.

So as far as I know, the stock clutch lasted around 6 years from new - unless the previous owner had already replaced it within 4 years (up to the point I bought the car).

I replaced this with an ACT 'street clutch', which lasted around 3 years.

I replaced this with an RPS 'Max' which has lasted 2 years.

Now, have to replace this with another RPS clutch.

I'm not a particularly aggressive driver, most of my journeys are short trips around town and I do around 9,000 miles per year.

Does anyone else go through clutches this often, or am I just unlucky

Do you sit on the clutch alot while in traffic they don't really like it.

Hope this one lasts longer all the best with it

To be honest it does all boil down to the way the car is driven ! some people can have a clutch every six months and some every six years even longer if they drive right. Its all about the revs when you engage the clutch and change gear, If u ride it when stopped on a junction or in traffic. But to be good to you town/city driving is the worst as your constantly engaging and disengaging the clutch plate all the time. Just try to use the handbrake on hills and in traffic and keep the revs down when pulling away. Practice pulling away without touching accellerator at all just moving on tickover.

Dave, just looked at your engine spec, you sure the last one was a MAX series ? cos they hold in excess of 450lbs of torque and your spec ain't no where near that. You can tell by the colour of the cover what model it is, Also as a thought with you going through so many ;) have the current one inspected for any signs of contamination and is the actual disc worn down.

The Sport actually holds less power than the MAX and if you ever wear either down, you can just replace the disc and or have the cover rebuilt.

I ran the Max for over 3 years with lots of torque, currently 475 at the mo.

cheers
