Hi everyone,

My insurance quote is £1600 for a Twin Turbo 300zx or £1900 if I want to protect my 4 years no claims bonus.

Is it worth protecting my no claims for an extra £300?

If I have a prang (god forbid), will my premium go up the following year even if protected?

Featured Replies

YES it will go up, i don't know much. why go on a site and do a quote with a prang on there with protected and without, i think you will go back to 2yrs ncb

The only problem with protecting your no claims, is that even though you'll still have your full no claims allocation after a prang, your current or another insurance company ask at renewal time whether you've had a claim in the past 3 to 5 years. So you say yes and they'll base the new quote on the fact that you've had a mash and wont really take much into account of your full no claims bonus, well thats what I've found out in the past anyway.

Get it on a Q-plate and get third party only - that's the man's choice.

All insurance is a con. I'm sure you don't really get to keep the NCB if you do have a crash - they'll up your premium some other way. They'll say your gran had the wrong sort of window locks on her beach hut and the policy is void or something.

When I used my ZX as a daily driver, I had an accident that was my fault. Repairs to my car were around £1200 and the other car around £400.

Luckily I had protected NCB - my premium before the accicent was £425-ish and at renewal a couple of months later it was still around £450 fully comp.

I now pay Carole Nash around £255 on a classic policy for the ZX. I have my NCB on the daily driver (1999 Merc SLK230) and that costs just £300 with Admiral.

So yes, protected NCB is worth it

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Is it worth it if:

Without NCB: £1817

With NCB: £2200

How old are you..........

......and are you sure you want a ZX at those premiums ;)

To protect my NCB only costs an extra £20 at the most :x:

I agree in part, Insurance is too expensive.

This is because 1 in 10 driver in Britain are not insured.

This makes them 6 times more likely to be driving an un-roadworthy vehicle and 10 times more likely to be a drink driver...

I'm 24 years old and i've got 4 years no claims bonus and I was quoted £1400 including protected NCB by A-Plan's import department in Thatcham, Berkshire for a 91 300zx TT (only £500 a year more than my Integra SI!) - number is 01635 874646 if you're interested....ask for imports dept.

Just an aside where I used to live Bedford is place where there are an alarming number of people without car insurance and with pretty expensive cars. There all afriad of accidents because of this it's one of the nicest places to drive because everyone is so polite and willing to give way to each other just in case they cause or are involved in an accident. Weird hay

Im 23, 24 next month and also have 4 years no claims!

My cheapest quote is £1600 with Admiral, but apparently they dont cover coilovers. i'll check with them again though.

The next cheapest quote was with Adrian Flux at £1800.

I'll try A-Plan next week :-)

Hi mate, what mods did the TT have that you got quoted?

The one I got quoted has sports exhausts, bomex spoiler, tinted windows, alloys and coilovers. Nothing too drastic!

It's got sports exhaust, uprated suspension, a spoiler that looks like it came from an ferrari f40 and thats it.......the guy i'm buying it from took the cats out when he had the exhaust fitted and reckons it adds 30-40 bhp, that can't be right though surely?

p.s Adrian Flux quoted me £1600 so A-Plan should be cheaper for you too, also Admiral are shit, I wrote off a Honda Civic Type-R in Dec 2004 and the claim wasn't settled until April 2005!!!!!!! The only good thing was they gave me a volvo s60 turbo to rag araound for 5 months at a cost of £3500 to the prick that crashed into me!!!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I wanted to thank 'pimpdroopycock'.

I picked up my 300zx twin turbo yesterday. I got insured with A-Plan and they were by far the cheapest. I wouldnt have even thought of them if it wasnt for 'pimpdroopycock' so many thanks! :D

Its currently in the garage getting the Clifford Concept 650 fitted. Got withdrawal symptoms already!

Jap Fairlady.

I paid £1600 with no claims protection. I got 4 years no claims bonus! This was the cheapest out of many!

It does depend on your area though!
