Just picked up a 300sx. Had a small test drive at slow speed and all seemed fine. Did the deal, but when driving home, I opened it up and I got loads of hesitation and no real power. The engine sounds fine when standing still and reved. Any ideas?

Need to add the following things after reading some other posts ..... It is a Jap import, Auto, It was low on fuel, but after a quick £20 it was still there. It was also raining.. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction

Number of possibilities, if it was raining and the car has an aftermarket induction water got in. If its a TT then maybe in safety boost, MAF has given up plus many more.

From reading maf sounds about right, It drove ok on a test drive at 30, but when I booted it on the country lanes all I got was misfires and a 0-60 time of around 3 weeks! Its a TT with a blitz induction kit, but if it was in safety boost, would it still misfire? On top of that, theres a burning smell, and it was struglling to change gear, this I'm hoping is not pointing to the gearbox

i would never buy a fast car and not fac it because if all is well it should do what it says on the tin.i even went up as far as preston and down to the south coast one drove around town lovely ment to be recone engine i drove it apart from the chap selling it shat his paints, when i booted it there was more smoke behind me than the sas use.you have a recept i pursueme, take it back oh and if prob make sure you keep your mits on that recept.

All worked out fine in the end, so panic over. It was a split hose. Took it to ZedWorld in Tamworth. Great guys and good value for money.
