You have a bulb out causing the warning "lights"to be illuminated or you have had a rear fog conversion which would cause the same problem.

Hey, thanks

What do you mean by rear Fog conversion? I have a Jap spec car. Not sure what year it is as I dont know how to tell and neither did the owner

cheers

jap cars dont have fog lights and to pass certain regulations depending on the country its a legal requirement to have them. this can be done in a few ways with mine the inner brake lights were converted into fog lights which was wired to an independant switch. the way in which the garage did it was to cut into one of the bulb holder wires and re route the wire to allow them to be switched on as "fogs"

this causes the "lights" to illuminate there is a way round it and that is by wiring in relays to trick the warning system..

you problem could simply be a blown bulb

goodluck

easy way to tell the year of manufacture mate is look at the seat belts, there should be a small label on the inside face at the bottom with a date on it.

better still, check out the Tech Index

HTH ;)

My "Lights on" warning light comes on when I brake??? It is deffo to do with the rear/front fogs which are wired to the same switch. (soon to be put right) with the addition of another switch.

A really quick and simple fix is to connect a 6.8Ohm 25Watt resistor between each of the two old (cut) brake light wires and ground. They cost about 50pence each.

Alternatively you can connect a relay so that you can still have all 4 lights as brakes, and the inner pair changing to fogs only when the fog light switch is on.
