def not fuse i have changed them all but none had blown in all three boxes and changed all relays too stll no joy do they have a dim unit or something that could have gone

might be worth replacing the blue relay in passenger side rear panel next to fpcu as that relay is for lights but not sure whether its for internal/external lights

yeh their int i think but i`m going to try that one also thier is 2 at the botom footwell near to fuse panel with rubber cover going to try them too.

g60cc,

You definatly have a power supply problem on the lighting circuit, the fact the main beam is operating when only on side lights added to having no rear and dashlights confirms this, this is a Nissan built in system so you have some forward lighting in the event of a fuse failure.

The usual fuse to blow is the side light feed this is located in the drivers footwell and is on the top row third from the left ( 10 amp)

Worth checking again, even it looks ok change it, they can fail and look ok, alternative with a good fuse fitted take power readings at the fuse, maybe you have a problem with the fuse box and have lost power to the fuse supply.

The rear of the fuse box is covered with link bars, this can corrode and break the circuit, personally I would go with the fuse, especially as you were working on the lighting circuit previously.

I

know u changed switch but that was what it was on missis car

Side light power supply fault IS the problem. To prove it run a tempory 12v cable to one of the front side lights or dip beam relay ( coil connection) this will make the rear and dash lights workalso , also it will back feed to the dip beam relay and they will work ok then.

What I think is throwing you is the way in which Nissan wired the lights, it is not a conventional method of permanant earths with switched live to the bulbs, when the side lights are switched on that also powers the live side of the dip beam relays and the live of the dip bulbs, when the dip beam is switched on earth is applied to the dip beam relay and then they come on, that is why when there is no live to the dip beam relay ( ie side light supply fault ) contact that would normaly be open in the dip beam relay are closed so it energises the main beam relays, as I mentioned before, Nissan did this so you would have emergency front lighting when a fuse has blown.

A few moments with a good test meter should find this quite quickly, appreciate you are frustrated by it,maybe take it to an auto electrician close to you, should be a breeze for them to sort it.
