my maf went the other day, wouldnt rev above 2500, wouldnt drive above 2500

now before it went all together, the car used to drive crap, it would miss and sometimes back fire when cold, then when warm it would hesitate when pulling away, then when backing of the throttle it would missfire slightly again, then it wouldnt feather the throttle in, it would just stop then start to judder as if someone was pressing throttle on and off slightly

so i put a new maf on and reset ecu (dissconnected batt for few hours) put it all back together and it was great the throttle response was spot on there was no missfire and ran sweet as a nut

but now 100 miles on and its back to its old tricks but does rev over 2500 and does drive over 2500, so has anyone got any idea on what i could do next, i cant keep resseting the ecu, it also runs fine for a few miles or so if i dissconect the tps whilst running then connect again

cheers in advance

Allan

i had similar problems for bloody ages m8

drove me bonkers cos it wouldn't be the same all the time

i ended up buying a car to start swopping bits as it was costing me a fortune swopping this and that, within a day i sussed it was fuel ecu

im not suggesting you buy another car lol, but worth swopping that bit if you can borrow one? as its another 5 minute job, but could save you mega $'s

It sounds more like a bad connection somewhere in the MAF wiring, especially if it started working OK once it had been disturbed. Check the connector and ensure the contacts are clean.

all connections are clean, its done this before with old maf, reset ecu works great for about 100 miles and then goes back to running crap

will wait and see what the outcome is, will ring ya in a bit, i think my cheque has cleared

Do you get any error codes up when she isnt running right. If it was doing it before u fitted the MAF and after i wouldnt of thought that was the problem. More than likely by your description to be base setting on TPS or injector wiring. Clean up the injector wiring and check your TPS is working properly on computer. Could also be your ECU have you got anyone you could swap with and try ?

the injector wiring is ok i replaced them a while back, i used ones form a laguna, the wires aint the same thickness, but they new wiring is only a couple of inches long, i set the tps before, but just by running car and putting multimeter on and moving tps till i got the correct voltage

anyone up here now how to set this properly

may try guvnors ecu and see if that is the prob, but the maf was deffo fooked though

the fuel ecu is in the panel passenger side under the quarter window

a uk will fit import and visa versa, but tt and n/a are not the same

as i said its worth the effort for 10 minutes swopping

(i think guvnor means the main ecu)

as i said i had similar nightmares for ages, and tried maf/tps/cas etc etc

every time i thought i had cracked it, it would start up run great

when i had the problem i could even turn the key on and off 4-5 times and it seemed to go away, apparently the fuel ecu when it gets hot starts to break down, so really you need access to one for a couple of days?

that sounds a ot like the probs im having, the revs are starting to pick upto about 2000 rpm by themselves and then they sometimes drop

yep i did :o

yep i did :o

still might be worth trying m8 as the ecu is one of the simpler things to change, nothing lost..

as i said said m8, not saying 100% that is your problem, as we know if things were THAT easy to sort on these cars lol

but worth it if you can borrow one then if it starts doing it again after a day or two, another thing eliminated

if you get really stuck m8 i have a spare fuel ecu as i bought the car and also got one from Ryan, BUT i'm not sure which is the good 'un lol and i don't fancy swopping them back to check,
