How many guys have removed both of these systems>?

Ive searched but there doesnt appear to be a catch?

How do you block off the egr ? Any good guides / pics be apprechiated.

Take it it should be of some benifit (even if its just the weight issue)

thanks andy

iv taken both off, but yet to run the car since removal!

there are quite a few people here who have, with no reported problems.

egr can be blocked off by sealing a 2p piece under the holes in the plenum, and a brass end cap from a plumbing shop will fit the hole in the exhaust manifold.

there are better explanations with pics etc if you search.

Mines done, it certainly runs much better than my last zed. There are a multitude of reasons for that though. The catch EGR wise is it doesn't burn the fuel vapour that would get re-circulated so is worse on the enviroment. Not that high powered cars are particularly good anyhow. Don't think there's a catch with the AIV removal? Sure someone else could elaborate though.

EGR removal can cause some detonation at light throttle / lowish revs as it's used at that point to enable the engine to run leaner and keep cyl temps down to reduce NOx emmissions.

Some aftermarket maps compensate with a little more fuel in that area (I always do), most don't and very rarely cause problems.

AIV removal has no downside.

With the EGR you can just disconnect the solenoid first then see if it's OK. 99% it will be.

Its the round green thing at the back of the plenum in the middle. Has pipes going around and into the bottom sides of the plenum

I used this guide, very quick and simple and I didnt need to remove the wings to remove the large boxes, I have removed 99% of my system (I left the pipe that connects to the exhaust but capped it off with 16mm round bar within the arch liner)

NIce thanks, good guide anyone got one for the EGR?

Think i will have a go at the Aiv tomorrow on my car, just seems un-necessary weight to be honest unless anyone can advise of what it might be doing for me??

The AIV removal took me about 90 mins from start to finish, removing the large boxes from deep within the wing is a little tricky, but it comes out after a few minutes.

removed my egr when the engine was out.be a pig otherwise.the pipes on the plenum are fiddly enough but the supply pipe from the n/s is a bit more tricky.i cut the flanges off to the plenum then pool welded the holes up.bin the pipe from the turbo elbow but keep the nut that secures it.also pool weld the center of the nut then refit to to the elbow.remove the valve then follow the vacuum pipe back to the o/s inner wing and blank off job done.
