Just been reading the z car story by Brian long and Clarkson is quoted as saying,

 

"This time they've gone too far. Normally I'd sign petitions and march about it if it would help the grass stay green and the sky stay blue, but not on this occasion. Environmental pressures have signed the death warrant on the 300zx and frankly it's just not on".

 

Just thought I'd post that as some people aren't sure if clarkson likes the zed.

It's weird what they love. If they start off slagging a car they end up loving it cus it's cool. Like the new mustang with the crappy suspension and poor power output. Then they may start a review raving about a car but end by saying its not so great, like the mclaren mercedes sl-something or other.

 

Love watching it though.

The cheer the Zed got when it beat the 350z in the top gear generation game was brilliant.

Clarkson has always loved the zed, its also in his top 100 cars of all time book, but the trouble with him on TV is that his opinion can easily be swayed one way or the other depending on the wether they just want to do a favourable review, or a critical review that day.

 

He's an entertainer rather than somebody to look for as guidance. The trouble is he has the biggest motoring voice to the general public.

It has to be said that the general public don't really listen to him. Just some people who take his word as gospel will dislike a car just because he does. I was looking at that 100 greatest cars thing the other day but its only 70 mins long so is there much of a section on the zed?

It's number 4 after his DB7 Barrrrisckichelllo thing. But he has not said that at the mo as the 911 floats his boat & also he does not have a good 300ZX

I remeber an old top gear or one of his vids when he is on about the EU slope angle of the windscreen and he said it would end to beutiful cars like... 300ZX was one of them.

I have a clarkson dvd where he lines up all the Zeds from 60's 70's 80's 90's against the 350z (which he drives). He says the 350 is lighter and more powerfull than the others so he expects to win. The shock on his face when he gets whupped by a 300TT is priceless and one of my fav vids ever.

Yep, nice clip. 350z is the heavier and less powerfull though.

True, and I think it even had a boost leak at the time? Maybe someone else can confirm this?

 

At any rate, from first hand experience I can definitely say the 300ZX TT is faster than the 350Z. :)
