Being a bit of a thicky (and new owner) i'm not sure what all the buttons do in my Z, I've got all the normal ones sorted, but I don't know how to direct the air about in the cabin as there's now obvious switches just a digital panel on the left, any ideas?

Hehehe, yes it takes a little time to get used to it. What reg is your car?

I can tell you about the Series 1 panel.

Thank god, I'm half convinced I'm going mad, the car is G reg, a series one as far as I can tell, any help would be appreciated.

Up Down. This changes the temperature you want. Ie. you set it to 20 and its 32 out side it will blow cold air, if its 5 out side it will be warm.

Auto: Is basically the on off button.

Blower, Square with lines: This clears your screen.

When you have either Auto or window blower on, there are "Hi" "Low" buttons on the side. Press hi for high power press it again to put it on normal/Auto press low to make the heater low speed.

3 circle buttons Rec, Econ, Off

OFF: When you have Auto or Window heater on, the off button turns it off. biggrin.gif

Econ: The AC uses engine power and make you do less to the gallon when its on. The Econ makes it so it doesnt use any extra power, higher mileage, but the AC isnt as Hot/Cold as it could be with Econ off. When Econ is on press it again to Econ off.

Rec: This is recirculate. This takes the air inside the cabin to heat/cool down. Good when its very cold, uses the warmer air in the cabin to warn up rather that the freezing cold outside air. Same when cool. Uses cooler air inside the cabin other then the hot air outside. I think it turns its self off about 20mins for safty reusing old air to too long isnt safe. Again press Rec again to turn it off.

In the winter, I put the temp to 40 press the low and econ.

In summer I put it to 10 and on low and Econ, but turn the Econ off when it gets warmer.

To blow your window clear. Put it to 40, Window blower and high till its clear.

Hope this helps.

Stuart.

with the series 1 climate control system there is no way to direct the air around, it is all automatically controlled. Just set the big number at the top to the temperature you would like in the cabin using the big up and down (red and blue) button and hit the auto button and within a few mins it will be there and will stay there come wind rain or shine. You can manually control fan speed fron the side with the hi and lo buttons, the defrost button is obvious, it gives the screen a defrost boost, the econ button kills the a/c compressor thus saving on fuel but the air wont be as cold, the rec button switches the air to recirculation, the only reason i can think of to use this is if ur behind a smelly deisel or something, the system is more efficient using fresh air cos its cooler allready.

I will just add that the temp doesnt need to be set up in the high 30's to clear the windshield - air con gas (yeah I know it doesn't fire gas onto the screen) will clear a misty screen what ever the temp setting.

Yeah, Glenn, but my manual says put it to the max temp and then put the blower on. Not that it makes any difference anyway

Clarkey has a good point. My series 1 aircon won't blow out of the air vents in the centre console. Any ideas???
