reliability

not to cause a massive debate but i am still looking for the right tt and while searching i have visited this site regularly. i just wondered how much a tt is going to cost to maintain, are they as expensive as the sellers state or are they reasonably acceptable? i realise that arent your regular car so will be fairly expensive.anyone got any idea on maintenance costs and reliability since buying theirs?

Maintanance costs really seem to vary from car to car...

If your lucky and buy a good one you can be hassle free for years (not had to spent a penny on mine, but have through own choice!)

Use the zed as regular ride and no more expensive than previous motors (except for heavy foot times ie petrol) As long as its regularly serviced you shouldn't have any 'expensive' problems...

Just my view though biggrin.gif

turboman

Hey steve.

i only bought mine about 6 months ago and almost immediately got problems with it due to my lead foot and add ons. i put a set of 2.5" stainless exhausts and removed the cats! didnt know then that it would weaken the seals and start smoking like a bastard!

so my advice to you - you must keep aside the money for the most expensive things in the car. i would have about £3000 spare if you do the work yourself so if the turbos fuck up then you are covered.

best of luck

Latz

I did every poosible check on my zed before i bought it and it was almost faultless............ just dont start me ok!! frown.gif rear my worst luck in the world thread

ZEDSTER

For mine all I have done is change the tyres, 2 where bald and the rear got a puncture and I didnt want different tyres on a car like that.

Oil changes.

Little repair on the rust on the sills.

And 2 front bushes need doing.

I have had it lightly too. My engine is in good nick and been looked after very well.

It has never let me down once

Stuart

Been OK with mine.

Had it for nearly two years; apart from servicing (more than a normal car but not stupid, even from Nelson) it's been fine.

Having a few problems at the moment but they are caused by hedge / being left outside waiting for repairs over winter and are only slightly iffy electrical problems. People on here can help get problems like this fixed for sensible prices, especially if you're willing to do some work yourself.

Prices for consumables (petrol, pads, petrol, tyres, petrol, petrol, petrol biggrin.gif biggrin.gif) are higher than most but these are performance cars so you'd expect that.

Overall I've been very happy with mine and no serious problems at all to date.

Like the other guys are saying, just do your homework and either learn what you need to look for or get someone who already knows and go over the car with a tooth-comb.

Regards,

James.

It is not cheap or maintain. Dont let anyone kid you. If you look after them and maintain them properly it will be reliable. But you have to get on top of all the little niggles. So many pople try and make little fixes or do it on the cheap, and pay dearly afterwoods. If it is heavily modified then they do cost a fair penny.

Remember your buying a car that when it came out in 1990 was around 35000 pounds in those days. So expect it to cost money.
