Hi guys,

Thought I would share a horrible experience with you all that I had today. I bought a boost gauge and phoned around several places today to get it fitted and after some hunting Falkland Performance in Glenrothes agreed to fit it.

I took the car down at 1:30 today and me and the mrs went for some lunch down the road. We came back at 3pm to find the car wasn't ready. 1 hour of waiting later and it STILL wasn't finished. I asked the manager what was going on and he said "go ask the mechanic". So I went and asked and he mumbled about how it was difficult routing the tube through and hooking up the light to the electrics. Finally...a total of nearly 3 and a half hours later it was finished.

I started up the car to find the gauge wasn't even fitted correctly! After several minutes arguing with the manager who pretty much said that I didn't know what I was talking about I called my mate who knows alot about cars who confirmed that I was right - he got on the phone with the guy and told him to connect the hose to the correct vaccum pipe. FIXED.

THe manager charged me £94 for the original incorrect fitting of the gauge and I got no apologies or offer of part refund.

So basically I paid nearly 3 hours worth of labour for an incorrectly fitted device that I had to get my mate to tell them how to fix it!!!

Well unfortunately the mrs had already paid before I got into the car and realized it was all messed up. But fitted incorrectly aside I did complain about the length of time it took them as I was of the understanding that this was a 30 minute job but it didn't get me anywhere.

I do plan on writing them a complaint letter, not that it's likely to get me anywhere.

Paul.

sorry to hear about that bud,i also wouldnt go near falkland performance again, and it doesnt surprise me that fitting a boost gauge is beyond their know how :headvswal

Sorry to hear of your problem, but why didnt you get your mate to fit it in the first place!

I demand a refund. If they didn't know what they were doing they should have told you.

come on here and ask how these are fitted before going to any garage...people here will steer you right..then you are for-armed.

routimng through the bulkhead can be a pain but the easiest route is the original looming to the ecu, ten minutes to route stuff through.

20min job boost gauge
20 min. Is that for plumbing in the pipework and mounting the gauge?

Depends where your sticking it! ;)

Just when I saw 20 mins, suppose if I'd done it with the same boost gauge to the same car before,20 mins might be do-able. Would've thought 20 mins planning time before lifting a tool wouldv've been reasonable?
