Well i think i have .

Driving around town yesterday and i heard what i can only describe as a tinkling sound from the plenum area then suddenly it started to missfire.

So i pulled over and the car started to run fine again.Then the dreaded cam knock started along with the missfire which only lasted about 30seconds and went again.

Anyone had this happen to them?

Help and advice appreciated.

Hi Eric i have never heard of anything like this either but there is definatly something come loose in there occasionly causing a valve to stick.

I did however find a crack on one of my vacume trees which i brazed up.

Do you think its possible a small amount of the braze has come loose and worked itsa way in there?

its possible one of the cam cap bolts have worked loose causing a slight rattle,as there only torqued up lightly in rare instances they can become loose,or just a sticky lifter

MAte. I had this. one of the hydrolic valve thngy got blocked. Sound like a small bag of bolts, then goes, then starts. With the sound you get 5 cylinders, then its fine. totaly intermitent and nothing shows on the checks.

I am thinking you might be right.

I just went for a 5 mile run and not a peep.Bloody hell its worrying.

have em checked mate. drove me nuts, got em cleaned and been good as gold ever since.

Whats the chances ill need a new plenum gasket as this one is only about 6 weeks old?
