From the pic, if you have a look at the highlighted section of the three bolts shown, would i be able to attach a custom tow eye to this part of the section would it be able to handle the weight of the zed when it has to be towed on to a recovery truck

 

It looked pretty tough when i looked and inspected it

If that is the end of the chassis it should be well strong enough, IMHO.

In my opinion NO.

These three captive nuts are only for very small bolts, and the plate they are on is not strong enough. Look at the edges of it .They will distort but the bigger danger is that the little bolts will shear.
