I have done a search but can't find a lot of info on this.

The noise is a quite loud mechanical clicking coming from the dashboard area above the main vents.

It will click 4/5 times then stop for 10 seconds and repeat. As you can imagine this is quite irritating. :headvswal

I think I have found a way to stop it, by having the fan on and directing the air to my feet (series II climate control).

But this is not a permanent solution. can anyone shed any light?

Mine started doing this today for the first time, very odd trying to think what could be making that noise, never would have suspected the A/C fan

climate control temp sensor

Is this sensor in the overhead fan/reading light cluster?

Is it easy to replace myself?

And, who sells them?

Thanks again...

Any thoughts on this fault, mine is still doing it, even with the engine stopped, but ignition on. Its very odd, the same 4-6 clicks, then nothing for 10 seconds, then it starts again, can go on of got 5 mins or 15 mins then stops.

Feeling around the dash, it is coming from the centre of the dash, about 5cm back from the windscreen, is there a solenoid/relay mounted under there? Does anyone have any dash removed pictures?

Thanks

We definitely have the same problem.

I have been a bit lazy investigating the problem as I have found that directing the fan down to my feet stops the noise.

If anyone could shed some light, that would be great...

It looks like it is the 'mode door motor' (HA4 and HA75 on the service manual) as that is the only item that sits in that position. I don't understand what it does, but a motor operating a cam, and overrunning it that noise exactly. Looks like a dash off job, I’ll ask for advice on that one and pictures.
