I know people on here must have upgraded the speakers in the doors...

What have people had fitted? Did you wire them yourselves? Is there anyone on here who knows a lot about ZX ICE?

I don't, but I'd like to ;)

I'll make an effort to see that!

Isn't Bluewater quite a way down South from Colchester tho?

not a million miles away , if you come down a12 , then onto m25 over dartford bridge ,then left onto a2 as if going to gravesend , first left again is bluewater ,well sign posted on a2 if not first turning but 99% sure

Yeah, I just AA route planner'd it (like I should have before I asked!) and according to them it's about an hour away. That's 40 mins in a Zed, plus about £40 in Optimax!

I'll look into it, would be great to meet with some of you guys.

So, I've read that to even get to the door speakers you have to take the door cards off - is that right? Nothing's simple on a Zed!

if you want to change them its correct , but it doesnt take long to be honest , and i went for 6x9s, but some prefer the tweeter and mid range combo in the front , ie two components , tweeters on top of card facing you and 6.5 mids in doors , iprefer 6x9s easy to do , im doing another uprgrade to my sound system this saturday and to me bro in laws car but im a lot further away than bluewater about another 30mins from there in croydon surrey .

To get 6x9's in you have to remove the speaker brackets so make sure you fashion one from MDF. Otherwise 6" components will do nicely.

Here's a link for getting the door card off, the screw under the window nealry defeated me til I found this. You have to lower the window and from the outside you can see the screw!

yep thats correct you do have to remove the metal plate that holds the old speakers and make new bit out of mdf but not that hard to do !!

6X9s sounds the way forward for me then!

I'm not sure how well wired my stereo is though - the drivers door speaker doesn't work at all at the mo! I use full fade to the rears, which are OK since I swapped the stereo over from my V6 Cav that I sold today. Still a basic head unit, but better than the mid 90s orange-glow Sony thing that was in there!

Did I see a carbon fibre dash kit residing in your cockpit Paul? Or are you just pleased to see me? :D I just bought one, but I'm not sure if it'll look good....

yep it is, ps im glad to help with any install of radio or speakers all free of charge ie me helping you , , i know im not a trader but im glad to help and no me stuff where audio is concerned not touting for work just here to help , unless you got any double glazing that needs doing then i am !! lol

Nice one mate - I just might take you up on that! I've never fitted any car audio (apart from swapping the head unit today, but that hardly counts) so your help would be greatly appreciated. I want to fit an auto-box cooler next, and then it'll be speaker time!

I'll do my best to make it down to BlueWater next week, see if I can get a mate to come along too.

Oh yes mate, that's exactly what I need! Nice one, I'll need a few things fitting soon, and if he could do the speakers that would be great. :hyper:

I'll PM you.

ps, not that I don't appreciate Paul's kind offer, but Croydon is a way to go if I can get it sorted round the corner.

No probs mate. I found that link very useful.

If you do go for 6x9's i sell some tasty ones on ebay

£22 inc postage to you mate. I must admit however, fitting components is much easier! :x:

All the best
