I want to do an oil change but am unsure of what oil to use.

I would like an oil with a high detergent level to give the inside a good clean.

I would normaly run a week or two with a good diesel oil in but don't want to with this car.

Any ideas on oil and what grade to use?

Cheers scrawni.

Is magnatec 15/40 any good? I got some but havent put it in yet.

I think thats what nissan use. (not necessarily magnatec but 15/40 semi)

Ive used magnatec mate and the tappets rattled on cold start .I use silkolene pro s now no more problems.

isnt the silkolene pro real thin - like water thin?

is there any difference between

silkolene pro s

and

silkolene pro rs 10/50

or are they the same?

gonna do an oil change later on today

Hi mate pro r is thin thats race oil .Pro s is 10/50 its is still race oil but for road use .I havent heard of pro rs.Id recomend this oil thats all ive used on mine. The problem is you cant buy from anywhere mail order or shows only or from oilman.

Would you put S.T.P in the oil?

NOOOOOOOOOOO :mac1:

Do not use oil additives, just buy a good quality oil in the first place.

There are many opinions on what oil to use here but if your engine is pretty standard then a good starting point is Nissan's recommendation. A 10w40 semi synth changed regularly won't do any harm.

I personally use a 5w40 fully synthetic (Shell Helix Ultra). A good fully synthetic will always be better than a semi for turbos.

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Valvoline Turbo V £15 5 litres every 5000 miles!

Ivan

Thats mineral oil

And 5000 miles is a bit long.

I use valvoline racing fully synthetic 5w50 and change every 2 to 3000 miles.
