The rear end of my car has been lowered a very long way, I cannot even get my finger between the tyre and the arch! (check the photo). This is also causing a quite ridiculous camber!

I have never fiddled with suspension before and I could really do with some help.

Does anyone have TEIN coilovers who might be able to give me a little advice?

Or even better, is there anyone relatively close to me who could help me out? I would obviously drive to see you and drop off some beer tokens.

Thanks, Mike...

You need to jack the car up remove the wheel and adjust the ride height with the spanner.

Do you have one?

You'll need to take it to your nearest TEIN dealer and pay them to set the coilovers upto what you want from your suspension. They can higher/lower and set up the ride soft/hard. Normally is about £40 an hour and shouldnt take more than 2 hours.

If they are the adjustable type then you should have a "C" spanner to wind up your nuts?????

Jokes aside, you should have a "C" spanner that you use to adjust the large nuts on the suspension leg, there will be 2 of them one is a locking nut, (thats normally the bottom one), you slacken that off first then you can wind UP the other nut to the desired ride height you want?

Have fun

Nice rims...

Try ramsport in Ruthin for suspension set up. Only £35 per hour and they are a proper motorsport outfit who run WRC cars. Speak to James

just fitted Tein all round on mine

I got the user guide translated do you want a copy ?? it might help !

It has setup details for the 300zx !!

If you do..... PM me your postal address or wait till Tuesday 2nd then ill scan it in and I can put it on this website.

Its basically simple top adjustment with c spanner gives you pre-load and lower gives you ride height.

Im doing mine myself.

(photo below is not taken on Tein sus its taken on KYBs )

Hi mate ive got tein flex coilovers on mine if the are tein flex .To alter ride height you have to undo the bottom locking ring ,dont touch the top 2 rings because flex coilovers can be lowered or highered without altering the pre -load on the spring .Once bottom ring is undone, undo bottom shock mount and spin the lower bracket up or down the treaded strut its trail and error .Mesaure between the ring youve undone and the last locking ring on the spring end .I cut a cable tie and set the overside the same .Lock the bottom ring up to the bracket job done .If there not flex then you have to alter the spring preload top 2 rings i think these are HA/HR/HE type coilovers.

Hi, mike like i said to you on the phone I had Dunlop 265/40/18 put on at the back when it had the 255 originally at the back there was not a sound, i just thought it was the tyres and that it is well low to (note there is no bodykit at rear no sideskits - so if you have that on there then the Zed way low on the ground) i like the low ride myself.

spanners i never had for the car normally i took it down the performance mechanic and he sorted everything didnt ask me for anything.

The Tein is Type HA coilovers.

Hello T,

I got it sorted no problem at R-Tec, just had the rear raised by 10mm.

But, the guy in the shop said something interesting. He told me that the rear tyres were too big.

He said that because the front tyres are 235/40/18 that the rear tyres should be 265/35/18 instead of the 265/40/18 that are on there at the moment. This explains why they filled the arch so much and were close to rubbing the arches.

I wasn't really listening to him too much cos they're a bunch of tossers at that place but looking at the car now I can see what he meant. It looks a bit like a dragster with bigger wheels on the back - I quite like it!

Cheers, Mike...
