I don't know who I should be telling, But here goes........

I open in error the Email for Stuart Evans it has a Trogan in it. Lucky for me I still run on windows 98 so it couldn't get a hold and I did a Virse check to make sure. Beware It will suggest your internet connection is running slow, it pretends to be a message from Mircosoft dont i repeat DO NOT Clink on OK. If you do it will download onto your PC. Once it's installed it's very difficult to remove.

If you want to know more pm me.

 :x: It can take up to 4 hours work to remove it and I didn't take down the name of this particluar one. Did you notice what it was called. We might be able to help if we can work out just which Trogan it is.

Sorry I should have taken the details down when it tried to embed it's self on my PC and I'm really sorry I didn't warn people straight away. :nelson:

All by accident I clicked on the message, realized I'd clicked on the wrong post, was coming out & my dog jumped up onto my lap and hit the mouse resulting on clicking the link. It's all the dogs fault.

Have you got any of the 'actual' free spyware/adware removers? You might want to try them, they're pretty good and you get free updates. Can't make any promises but it generally finds a lot of stuff on my PC. Depends how much porn you download....

This is what I use, everyone should have it even if you've got other virus software - no harm in having too much protection! ;)

Ah poop. I had a similar problem a while ago - changed IE's hopepage to 'Incredifind' or some useless pile of cack. Whenever I changed it back, it would ignore it and I'd get all the pop-ups you're talking about (the most irritating are the ones that are adware, but telling you to click on the link to remove adware!). I had to get my network expert mate to come round and sort it....

... Although I think all he really did was Google all the relevant symptoms and looked on some geeky PC forums and eventually found a remover that had been made for the specific Trojan poo that I had.

Apart from getting him round your house, I think that's all I could suggest for now mate.

Good luck though!

Ooooh, or you could try doing a System Restore if you haven't already tried that.

Go back to a few days before the problem started - might help, might not.

I love owning a Mac G5 no problems with viruses :D lol

LMFAO :D

Very true! ;)

i just got this email to

Click on the vid Its fookin great fun LOL

Apparently what it installs is a program called spyfalcon which is a spy scanning program which reports you have viruses and spyware which you dont have. Apparently it pops up from the task bar that you have a virus when infact you dont.

Its just trying to get you to buy the product.

The link below will show you how to get rid of it.

I am really sorry this has happened, but there is nothing much more I can do to stop this from happening. I have upto date virus checker which I pay for, firewall, router and I change the messenger password every month or so. I learned my lesson from the chernobyl virus years ago, which broke my motherboard and graphics card.

I have no idea how it was sent from my address. There is a possibility that it was hacked from Microsoft hotmail servers.

The email has been sent from an IP address in America. This is where the email was sent from, unfortuantly under my name and to all the contacts in my messenger list.

Back to the point,

I have read the instructions and even gone through them myself. The instructions are good and easy to follow, even for a novice.

Only point I would add, to the instructions is, to boot into safe mode, reboot your computer. WHen you get the screen with the memory check and such (POST screen) keep pressing F8 every half second or so. After the computer has done its checks and just before the windows loading screen appears you will get a menu. Select SAFE MODE the press enter.

Not your fault Stu but at least it proves Fire Fox is the Daddy and IE is a complete pile of crap:D;)

PS thanks for the info to get rid of it.

That's one of the things it's writen to do. To change all your web page settings give you lots of useless popup which you don't want in order to make to buy there rubbish to remove what they've done to your PCin the first place  :headvswal. It also takes over your E-mail account in order to get at your addr book so it can send the same rubbish out to everyone in your addr book.

We had the same problem a few months back with our Church's network.

Thank goodnes my hubbie works in this area and got it sorted.

Another thing worth running that IVe never seen anyone use is Mcafee Stinger.

Use it all the time at work

Its just an .EXE you run and it clears LOADS up - no spyware or owt like that.

Doesnt install, so no bogging down the system and works alongside every virus scanner you have.

IE & Zonealarm are useless. G5s are OK but spent 2 hours on the phone with Applecare today being bounced from Tech support to Aftersales only to be told that a BIOS upgrade to the graphics card would stop the fan from being noisy  ATI were fookin useless, their UK and Germany lines have been switched off, had to phone Canada because their on-line returns form wouldn't give an RMA number saying it was out of warranty after 6 weeks FFS :mac1:
