Someone said the other day the my car should be called Christine, cant remember whoyou were, sorry. Anyway im starting to seriously think it has christines mind after tonights drive home, was some scary sh*t i tell thee

When you push the accelarater the car will obviously accelarate, what happens when you dont?

Well my car decides to take off.

Near the bottom the the accelarater pedal i noticed that the car seemed to stick slightly, so i do what you all would do and push it down a bit more, i hear a little click as if ive just pressed a button and the car took off from about 70 up to 115 in about 6 or 7 seconds, now thats all well and good apart from i didn't have my foot on the pedal, brakes didn't slow her down or anything, it just kept speeding up and was going up very fast too, couldn't stop her, it was accelarating as if i was in third or something even though i was in 5th.

The only way to stop it was putting the clutch down which then made the revs fly off the scale almost, then dropped down and cut out at 115mph or just over.

Now im scared, WTF . . .

theres been a thread on this a member will post it im sure

Common problem the sticky throttle. There's some info on it if you have a search.

Sticky cable??-check the pedal and cable for full travel mate, also that it returns freely!-Check breather pipes! ;)

right in the engine bay look for accelerator cable to its right as you look at it there is a right angled pipe which leads into one of the rocker covers..

check its not rubbing on the throttle body cable linkage and make sure the one the other side hasent come out a bit aswell. if it has push it back in

legrath had exactly the same prob

Dave had a sticky linkage though I think Gaz, not a cable issue. Maybe I'm wrong.

...sorry, re-read it...you do mean that bit of metal....my bad.

it was the oil breather pipe that had come outh of the rocker cover im sure of it which was rubbing on the cable linkage !

I don't know how to link a thread but Put "stuck pedal" in the search, there's a post by legrath with a pic.

Im telling you's, it was scary,

The pedal came back up fine, so why does it stick before getting the pedal all the way in?

That's right! :headvswal -the pic shows the linkage rubbing the pipe!

Yours DOES NOT want to do this! ;)

i dont think it does

Check carefully mate!-if it aint' then your problem is elswhere, see my first post! ;)

Pull the throttle cable bird so you can see how the bit moves across the breather pipe, it should move freely without rubbing on the pipe. The other thing that can happen is the pipes come loose as they are just placed into their hole in the rocker. Give the pipe a knock into its hole or put some kind of sealent on it that will stick it in.

unbelievable, can you not have 1 week with nowt hapening to ya zed like.

i'd better change that

can you not have 1 day with nowt hapening to ya zed like.

there was a warning put on the site for everyone to check there breatherpipes a couple of weeks ago, so if anyone else hasnt, then go and check it now.
