Hi all, my starter motor started grinding instead of turning the engine the other day. it used to do it about 1 in 10 times, now its about 1 in 3!

From what i had read it seems they can work loose and this problem can occur. I also read that they can be removed in 5 min.

Can someone please tell me exactly where the motor is and the easyest way to remove it. My car is a jap model TT manual and is very low so im hoping a kerb will be enough for me to get to it!

I need to get this sorted asap, so with any luck ill be under the car tomorrow morning

Its on the drivers side, if you turn the steering full left hand lock I believe you can see it if you kneel down, held on by one nut and one bolts, can work loose sometimes ripping out the thread from the bolt, one of the easier jobs.

Once you find it that is and if it's not stuck cause of a bit of rusting! Bit of a pain in the ass. It's very near the oil filter and you'll prob be easier to just remove the driver side wheel and go in from there rather then jacking it up and coming in from under the drivers door.
