Strange noise when pulling away

Hi Guys n Gals,

Anyone know what could be making a kind od grating noise when I pull off from standstill.

It only happens when pulling away, it's worse when there is two people on the car or if you pull off in second, sounds like a metal rubbing noise, seems to be coming from clutch/ gearbox / propshaft area.

I was thinking prop bearing or clutch related????

Car is a UK manual with 160K on the clock.

Thanks in advance for any ideas........

hate to be the first to post here... especially just to say... sounds expensive dude :(

That's what's worring me.....

Thanks anyway mate

The bit that worries me is "worse in 2 & with more weight in car." starting in 2 can shake things slightly therefore if anything is loose eg exhaust system it can scrape. More weight will lower the car resulting in the same. Have your checked nothing is loose underneath. Otherwise it sounds like the Clutch plates might be grinding.

I have had a good look, nothing loose, I think I might get a clutch and see what's up when I take the old one out.

Any one recomend a clutch for a near std car (but i will be de-catting it soon)??
