Hi I have had two twin t 300zx's in the last four months and I must admit I am dissapointed by the power. They are reasonably fast but I couldnt really say I am blown away by the performance.

Everyone seems to give glowing reports about the raw power. Have you guys git any thoughts on this?

Does anyone live near tunbridge wells per chance with a tt that they know is a beast that would be willing to show me?

Thanks peeps!!

hi there,a lot of TT's running about seem to be on saftey boost,is it possible this is the case with yours?

hope this helps

Paul

Yeah, I have heard that before but is there any way of actually telling if it is running on safety boost?

do you have a boost gauge in the car apart from the standard one? i think 7psi(0.5bar) is saftey boost

Fit a decent boost gauge or let someone drive it who knows something about the cars......what age and mileage where the cars you had?

There are alot of badly looked after 300zx's around that are a bit ****ed, you porobably had two of them.

that would be awesome if I could check it out :). I dont mind travelling or whatever and I would only need quarter of an hour just to save my sanity- lol!

last one had done 90k and a 92, this one has done 74 and a 90. I'll go get a boost gauge, you would of thought they would have made it more obvious if they were running in safety mode wouldnt you, then again it is a 300zx!

Pete, Datascan reports code 55 (no errors), so I don’t think that you are on safety boost

have to admit im feeling the same. My car has a profec b running about 10-11 psi at wot and the car just doesnt feel that fast. Its got after market exhaust, Jwt chip apexi induction grounding kit. And to be honest i was hoping for a fast car, not sure where the problem is really ... hoping datascan will give me a clue when the group buy closes so i can see whats going on.

you could still be in safety boost with a code 55, if you are getting detonation that will put you in safety with no error code.

Also, if you have a dud water temp sensor which is always reporting cold then that will keep you in safety with no error code, not to mention running a stupid rich mixture.

my car is standard at the moment as I just bought it. thanks for the advice. how do i check for detenation!?? i am gonna give it a once over at my mechanics so I want to make sure he has a good check list of stuff to look at! any other things i should check??

Pete :p

is it an import? If it is then are you running on regular unleaded? If so then put optimax in it instead.

a lot of boost gauges arent that accurate, best way of telling if you are in safety is plugging in a conzult or datascan and seeing is the boost solenoids are energized or not.

im using a profec b spec II which gives a boost read out and it hits 10/11psi. My car still doesnt feel that fast to be honest. As said il be getting datascan from the group buy, but wondering if there is anything else i could check (uk car always run on optimax or bp ultimate, chipped, apexi induction, grounding kit, scorpion exhaust, uprated radiator, series 2 ptu etc...)

Cheers all

ah right, boost controller, in that case the solenoids will be disconnected and you wont have safety boost, it will still retard your ignition though.

Prob your o2 sensors mate as you said they weren't working in another thread. Mine went and the power difference is unbelievable. The car always thinks its cold so overfuels. By the way Nissan are charging me £400 for both replaced, a specialist will be much cheaper if there's one near you. ;)

come to our bluewater meet bud in the south east section,we meet there every other tuesday and we have about 10 zeds there some standard some with higher boost, so we wont mind having ago and seeing if we can help

The best thing all you guys who don't think your car is fast can do is take it to a rolling road, once on there you will see how its performing, doesn't cost much.

ah you guys :P !!! hehe.. awesome advice there. Its an import but of course i put the expensive stuff in her - lol! Where can I buy 02 sensors from? any suggestions for a good cheap place?? I will def go to the meet (if only to see your 'beast' lol) and ill bring a mate with another z, but i'll wait till i get some stuff fixed - mainly these daft 02 sensors + a minor water leak. bloody el, not surprising my cars under performing really!

What you also have to remember is you just get used to it! My bro had a 470bhp 32GTR and it was FAF running a high 11 quarter and 4 sec 60`s. He sold it for practical reasons and bought a RB5 running 285bhp and hitting the 60`s in just over 5 secs and running low 13`s. Got rid asap as it was not doing it for him, said it was slow!!!!!! Just compare the figures for the Z with other vehicles. With a 5.5 to 60 and 150 ltd it`s no slow coach but are the type of figures you are just going to get used to!

yeah fair point... i may just be a power freak... :p
