Apart from changing the KM to miles what needs to be done to an import zx (assume its in decent working order) to make it suitable for english driving?

Thanks

Get it properly serviced by someone that knows the zed well, theres a few places on here that can do it, probably a full 60k service is best, even if they said its been done its doubtful they did more than an oil change with the wrong oil.

1) Add a rear Fog light, or better still convert/adapt the inner brake lights to fog/brake lights

2) Add a fuel filler restrictor

That’s about it physically, the rest is paperwork

2) Ad a fuel filler restrictor

Why is this? I found one on mine and took it off, no probs so far.

lol, I already got a bank loan to buy it in the first place ;)

I guess a really good service is gonna set you back the best part of £300, the fog light should be done by them for the MOT, if its not then its a good indication of wether the tester actually saw the car. Its a manual so no auto box cooler needed.

aah... so if there's no fog light then they haven't done a proper mot? Since the car will come with full MOT.

So whats this fuel filler restrictor?

I would guess they are talking about the flap in the filler neck that lets fuel go down but not back up, not heard that mentioned before.

Found this:

Fuel Filler Restrictor - A device built into the fuel tank fill pipe designed to prevent the introduction of leaded fuel to the vehicle. The addition of lead into the vehicle’s fuel system can cause reduced catalytic converter efficiency, causing higher tailpipe emissions. Fuel filler restrictors typically are damaged or worn by using the fuel nozzle at a service station over an extended period of time.

So I'm guessing as long as I dont put 4 star in the car I'l be ok.

It should be a MoT requirement, but I’m not sure how strictly they adhere to this requirement.

i thought they were something to do with the fuel pumps nozzle.

my cars a B***H to fill.I have to pull the nozzle out bout halfway to get any fuel in otherwise its clicks (i know it aint a full tank of fuel because my Zeds never had a full tank since ive owned it lol)

Looks right, I guess the nozzle for leaded unleaded is a different size so stopping you from putting leaded in and killing the cats, not that you can find leaded anymore.

if its not fitted will I still be ok filling the car up? I'd have no idea what to look for to see if its there or not.

lol me to its a pain click fu*k click fu*k click click

You don't need to convert the speedo to mph, I never did. Mine had a mph sticker on but was in kph - v useful for scaring passengers - "Fook me are we doing 180mph"

Filling up with petrol - I found that contorting your arm to hold the pump at about 9 o'clock stopped the flow shutting off every few seconds.

Some times imports come over with the wrong speed rated tyres because of the jap 112 mph speed limiter fitted. people buy cheap tyres with low speed rating .My mates skyline failed mot because the tyres were only rated to 125 mph .Also most zeds have the bong lights on sound above 60 mph .And radio needs converting to uk brandwidths .Also cruise wont set above a certain kph .

only if its post 1992, as my 1990 car dont needs cats for the mot! (still needed the extra fog light tho)

front fogs are not an mot item

The importer i used - autolink who does jap cars generaly gave my zed a full service new cam belts, spark plugs, o2 sensors oil filter and oil change with 6 month warranty as part of the total price.

The place I'm getting my JDM NA from say there will be a full MOT done before I get to take it. From what people have said though I'm worried they will just pretend its passed the MOT and not care about things like emmissions or lack of rear fog lights etc. Would it be easy for a small company to do that?
